Carbon Fibre wrapping exterior trim

Post by scooby-tc » Fri Nov 12, 2010 5:34 pm

I am thinking about wrapping my aluminium door trims, grill pieces etc in carbon vinyl wrap to match my already wrapped roof. What do you guys think about the idea? the car is avus and i have to admit i hated the carbon roof when i bought the car but if some other trim pieces matched it might look a bit better and there is the bonus that i can remove it if i dont like it

opinions????

heres some pics of the car to gauge an idea

i dont like the roof either. I think carbon wrapping the aluminium trims would look tacky. Spray/wrap matt black as per the plus if anything but personally i like the alu look

beautiful wheels though, are they 20" oem's?

Hi mate, met you at goodwood last week.

Lose the wrap altogether and then if you want black optics just get them done in matt black.

+3 Not a fan of the carbon I am afraid. Check out the aftermarket headlights post in this section, couple of pics of grey and black wraps. Not sure if I would have the balls to go for one but as you say they are not permanent! The Matt black wrapped 6 looks militant

i dont think id go for a full car wrap unless it was in white but i think i will look at losing the carbon roof and keeping the car as it is as i dont want to venture too far away from the OEM look

To be fair i think the cars look best as standard, understated but aggresive! Mine is an avus silver saloon, as standard apart from the MTM quad exhaust - would happily put the same wheels as yours on there though! Think all the mods I will make will be under it's skin

opinions????As you know, don't mind the wrap, wouldn't do any more though, how easy to remove without damaging laquer coat????is it just a heat gun and peel??or is laquer lightly to be damaged???

Have you got a pic of the rims in anthracite now? I have an Avus with black optics, and not sure whether to do the wheels now...

Yeah me too, i need to get the wheels refurb'd on mine, and have been looking around for pics of a avus with anthracite wheels.

I have to say you have a lovely looking car - nice one! I definitely think the carbon roof looks wrong. Not because there is anything wrong with carbon-vinyl roofs, but more because it doesn't suit the colour of the car. I'd say put it back to standard mate.

In terms of the wheels, the silver looks 'prettier', but the grey looks meaner. I prefer the grey to be honest - looks smart. Just my opinion of course. :)

Mart.
