Clonking noise Tyre Scrub When on Hard Lock F&R Fixed

Post by polecat » Fri Nov 12, 2010 5:40 pm

:) Hi I am new to the forum, but had commented on a thread regarding tyre scrub and clonking noise, tyre scrub/bounce on a hard lock, forward and reverse.

Audi were going to charge me £100 pound for alignment diagnostics and extra for any adjustments.

Keith from Revolution Gateshead contacted me yesterday after seeing my thread, and today had the car on the Hunter diagnostics FOC, problem identified, not camber, but toe in toe out etc, was way off. Adjustements made, no clonking/tyre scrubb or bounce, because the car is not being pushed against the front wheels.

The car is completely different to drive, and I feel confident, very pushing it into the sharp bends, as I did on the way home on the windy country road.

However, there is still a slight pull to the right drivers side, and this is the side where the DRC is leaking!!! Audi want to charge me £100 for presssure test, and additional works if needed. They do not know I have the letter from Jeremy Hicks, Audi UK!!

Not sure how I am going to play this, demand or request 2 new front shocks in advance, showing the letter, or let them do the work, then produce the letter??

The latter being slightly risky, as they may keep hold of my car if I dont pay up!,,yeah if they cripple me first and handcuff my hands behind my back.

Many thanks to Revolution Team Gateshead, as they will check the alignment again FOC, once the DRC is sorted.

I will post a copy of the before and after diagmostics print out later tommorow, as I cant be arsed to scan in etc.

Thanks for the info, went to the Audi garage today the Master Tech told me new tyres might cure the scrubbing, new tyres going on next week so will see then. Tracking was done a few months and only slight adjustments were done will be interested to see your Diagnostics when you post them. If still the same may have to go to Revolution if the tyres dont cure the problem

I gathert you mean Glenn rather than Keith?

Which dealership wanted to charge you for a DRC test, Tyneside or Newcastle?

Yeah, you are right, Glenn contacted me, he is the owner, believe he is picking up an RS4 himself tomorrow!

The stealership at question is Scotswood Road!,,,,as Ive said, dont know how to play the DRC issue.

One thing is for sure, the work Revolution carried out has made a huge difference to the car!!!, probably been like this since I bought it last year,,,as Ive been moaning about the crap handling since then.

Take it to Tyneside / Silverlink. I booked mine in week before last for a DRC pressure check prior to mine passing the warrantied 75,000 mile mark and they checked it and found to be OK. No charge but maybe because I'm a regular customer. Worth a try though.

Newcastle Audi are pants.
