Hello all,
Since a few weeks I'm experiencing a really annoying problem. Whenever I'm in a traffic jam (standing still or moving realllyyyy slowly) or in front of red lights for a few minutes my car/engine just shuts down and I can't start it for about 5-10 minutes. (or I have to use a starting battery)
I went to the local audi dealer and they told me it has something to do with the compressor inside the engine and they will have to revise the engine which is a pretty expensive thing. They also said that because of that my car isnt using all of its power.
Has anyone else experienced something similar ? Because I'm planning on going to Germany next weekend but I'm affraid I'll hit some traffic and I have to either pull aside or just pray to god my car keeps running.
Greetings
Bart

RE: Problem with engine ?
if it starts with a starting battery either it's the battery (defective cell) or the alternator which isn't charging the battery, simple enough for a decent mechanic to test.
when you say "compressor inside the engine" what do you mean? Turbo charger??

Battery has been replaced cause there were some defective cells, alternator was tested and no problem there either according to the audi dealer.
I guess the correct translation is Turbocharger yes. Kinda literally translated it from dutch into english.
