DRL

Post by Bradders109 » Thu Sep 16, 2010 10:26 pm

I believe these were an option (if wrong forgive me) If so, my car has the button - what's the point of drls? Can't seem to grasp why you would need to spec them - is there anything special about them.

Cheers Dunc

As already said DRLs were standard on the RS4, and DRLs will be a legal requirement on all new cars from 2011 so it was Audi getting ahead of the game.

Why DRLs? Supposedly to make cars more visible during daylight. We had a (longish) debate about them on here a while back - I'm in the camp that thinks they can make motorbikes more difficult to see so I don't like them, but others have the opposite view.

Thanks - well I turned them on anyhow, btw a few years back I did an advanced driving course in an S3 and I used to drive with my lights on in the day and the instructor told me to turn them off - they were xenons, but considering all the LEDs Christmas trees out there now, no worse.

whenever I drive through certain areas in London I always turn my DRLs and even headlights, just so that the illegal immigrants who drive with out insurance (1 in 4 have insurance) have a better chance of spotting me.
Money can't buy you love, but it can buy you a well sorted racecar
