Amd or Qst?

Post by banjo82 » Thu Sep 09, 2010 10:53 pm

Hey guys!

I'm relatively new to audi ownership and bought my b5 s4 earlier on this year.

I've spent a bit of money on mods and tidying it up a bit but before i do any more to it i wanna get it looked over properly, have a health check and full service.
I'm in essex and i think Amd in thurrock is closest place for me but i have some paperwork from Qst that came with the car.
So i'm wondering is Qst better for me and worth the longer drive?

What are peoples views/experiences?

Thanks, Greg

Generally the word is MRC in Banbury, for tuning if you're in the South.

OK cool!
Banbury is over 100 miles from me so would you say MRC are that much better than the others then?

MRC is a 300 mile round trip for me. AMD Thurrock is about 60miles away, and QST about a 200 mile round trip.

That speaks volumes...

Worth the additional time/fuel without doubt.

Thanks for the replies!

I'm happy to travel further for the right service so thats exactly what i wanted to hear really.

It seems like MRC has alot of happy customers and i'll be arranging a trip to visit them myself very soon.

Thanks for the help! :)

I'm actually sat in MRC's waiting room at the moment.. As a new customer of MRC's I am very happy with their service and wouldn't hesitate to recommend. I do a four hour round trip so MRC aren't the nearest but it's an excuse to give the RS a good blast on the way home lol
RS6 C6 - Stock atm but will be getting an MRC Stage 2 shortly
RS6 C5 - H&R'd and MRC'd Happy Days!..

Just another question people! :)

Does anyone have an AWE drivetrain stabilizer fitted to their car?
Are they any good, worth doing?

Was thinking of getting one of these and a short shift at the same time.

I'm assuming MRC can provide me with both of these!

I have an ESP DTS, not an AWE, but essentially the same item.

It is arguably the single most impressive mod I've done (with the exception of the MRC Custom Map that is). It totally transforms your gearbox, and gear selection, removing any 'slack' you may have in the gear stick. Combine it with a weighted hear knob (WGK) and a decent short shifter, and it'll feel like a new car.

They can provide them, but they'd have to get them in stock, which may take time...

They may also recommend the JHM gear too, rather than AWE. Best bet is to speak with Doug and listen to his advice, as he's had them all so can make a reasoned suggestion.

I think these 3 items are next on my list then! They sound like they're exactly what i'm looking for!

I've just been looking at the JHM stuff online actualy. Looks sweet!

Does Doug work at MRC then? I'll have a word when i book in my service.

Thanks mate!
