Throttle delay...?

Post by RS4VR » Tue Aug 24, 2010 10:59 pm

I've noticed my RS4 has a response lag when pressing the throttle.. sometimes it feels like the pedal needs to move 20%+ before the engine responds.

It is harder to rev match because I'm not getting direct throttle/engine feedback..

For what it is worth.. it is better in sport mode..

Any suggestions on what I can check?

Car is a 2008 RS4 w/ a 05/09 in service date and 8k miles.

Thanks!

I have the same issue and I don't really like it. You just can't blip the throttle. I had a Alfa Romeo 156 GTA with the 3.2 V6 and it was simply fantastic . The throttle response was just instant and sounded and acted almost like F1 engines..
Go here and have a look at something which might be of benefit. It seems to fit behind the throttle with simple fitting.

I read a report back along about something to do with it. It was along the lines of how the scale of the throttle adjusts depending on the rpm and road speed I think. You may also notice at certain times the revs don't drop back down as fast as usual. I think it's because the engine was operating around the adjustment threshold, so where the rpm passes the point at which the throttle response is adjusted and then adjusts again as the revs drop past the threshold, gives the effect of the revs sticking as the scale of the throttle adjusts.

Maybe somebody has the link to the ECU study it was on? I can't find it anywhere
