advice please
I'm happy with the car it's more fact of how the sale played out. I actually went to the dealer to look at their s4 avant and seeing the rs4 And being told it was fsh and just serviced etc I thought I'd buy vehicle that I've always fancied owning.
Tbh for the brief 4 days I've owned the vehicle I've been so impressed with the entire package. Hopefully the dealer will ring me on Monday and tell me when my car will be back and that everything is correct with the records.

I've been in this positon before and Trading Standards were very helpful. One call from them to the dealer scared the dealer and sorted it to my satisfaction.
Did you pay any part of the price (e.g. deposit) on credit card? If so, you can reject the car though them and get your refund direct from them. The CC company will then take the matter up with the dealer while you buy another car.

Gone to the dark side
If you want total piece of mind re the keys, get the stealer to change all the lock barrels at their cost, that way not only are the old keys no good to start the car due to them re coding the keys, but they cant open the doors any more either.

Ok I've been sitting here waiting now 2 hours for the service chap to ring me back and tell me if my car is ready.
The story goes like this.
I spoke to the salesman first thing on Monday morning and told him how disappointed I was with regards to the lost key and not having the original service book. I also explained that if I had known that I would not of bought the car on the basis that to me if the original spare key and service book were lost it would of indicated that the car has not been looked after.
I also informed him that the fact that the car needed faults repaired with the vehicle before I picked it up and that within four days it has broken down with in my eyes a major comp it's doesn't look good for me.
He agreed and assured me that the car would be ready tomorrow afternoon ( today ) and that they would sort out the key by replacing the system. The last thong I said was ok let's start again and hope no other problems happen.
So today I eventually decide to ring the dealer as no one had phoned me to ask when I could collect the car. The response goes like this " car will be ready tomorrow morning now " , now that pissed me off. So I ask why it wasn't ready to be.told that they haven't been able to start on it as the ramps were full.
The whole thing now is pissing me off. I don't believe what I'm being told and I cant be sure that the real reason is that they've foundfurther problems with the car. I cant believe that they haven't made my car a priority and they again haven't bothered to phone me back. Service department closes in 10 minutes and if no reply I'm ringing them to say I'm rejecting the car.
I'm going to be £700 out of pocket on this s I paid for the cradle and a 2 day detail on the vehicle but I have lost all confidence in my local dealer.

Your not on your own suffering very poor communications from your dealer,it is probably the the most infuriating call you will make when you ring up because your overdue your car back and they havent called you in advance,only to be told so matter of fact like its no trouble at all to you that you wont be getting it back at all until the following day,like you dont work or have a family and make plans etc ......and then they wonder why people want to reject cars etc ...hope you get a good solution but it really does spoil the moment eh
I think in 90% of these types of cases, the conspiracy theories prove to be unfounded and the explanation is just sheer incompetence.
I know exactly how you feel, my issue of the moment being with Stratstone, but for the sake of £700 I'd hang in there a bit longer.

In my experience "I'll call you back" actually means "I've nothing more to say to you now, and if this is important to you you'll call me back" - not just by dealers but just about anyone.

My car was in the dealers for 2 days last week for a repair. I was advised to pick it up at 4pm on day two. I asked if I should ring before to check but was told no need - the car will be ready. So on day two after waiting for 40 mins in the dealer for someone to speak to I was eventually told that the car was still on the ramps and would I mind waiting another half an hour or so (guessed this meant anything up to an hour). I said no (I had to pick the kids up from nursery) so went home and had to come back the next day for the car (40 mile round trip). Fortunately I had their loan car so was only mildly pissed off.
I wouldn't reject the car just yet - you have to give them every opportunity (and then one ot two extra opportunities) to put things right. Just tell yourself it will be worth it in the end (which it will).

After going through the reject process before on a different marque I can say that you've got zero chance of rejecting a car due to the lack of a service book.
Unless you have in very clear writing that the service book would be provided then you still paid for the car knowing at that specific moment in time the book was not present.
Ditto with the key. Rejecting the car is more to do with mechanical issues that are unreasonable to check for during any test drive or inspection. At the end of the day the car is fit for purpose and you'll never convince any 3rd party it's not.
Now the oil leak is different however as above - you have to allow a reasonable attempt for them to rectify the problem (however don't allow too many attempts as this can be seen to be accepting the situation).
If you do decide to reject the car then prepare yourself for a very rocky road - you must get everything in writing and sent by recorded delivvery. Specialised legal advice is highly recommended and the first thing they will generally do is to recommend you parking the car at the dealer, handing over all keys and getting a receipt signed for. As such make sure you're prepared to lose the car for a fair while until it gets sorted out.

The car is sitting on my drive. For the problems i've had they have thrown in the next service for free. I didn't push for this , it was offered to me straight away as i met them to collect the vehicle. This gesture took the sting out of me.

I've done 15K since my last service and it's still telling me several K until the next, so 23K is quite possible I guess.
Glad you've got the car sorted out. And a free service is worth a few hundred, so not a bad result! Now just put this behind you and concentrate on enjoying the car!

Service book: as stated it's just a piece of paper, having the services on the Audi UK system means lots more considering how easy it is to forge a stamp. You have to wonder where they get lost, why not call the previous owner.
Keys: With VAS system you can program in a new key and your exisiting key and say no more keys to be allowed to start the car so your lost one will be disabled. However this wont stop someone being able to open your doors with the missing key.
Service interval: I always thought 20k miles was the max for a petrol car on long life (30,000km). For a performance car like the RS4 10k miles is more than enough IMHO
