Dom is spot on and my hastened writing is crap; I meant to say 50 and no spelling mistakes!

8 more classification to 50 though is a worry, I don't know whether to be flattered that I have a car insurers reckon is in super / hyper car territory or bewildered at how wrong the classifications still are.

And as for insurance it should now be redefined and renamed as to insure is not what it is anymore. Your 'Exploitation' renewal this year is £x.......
I hadn't heard about this but looking at the thatcham link it seems we have gone from 20, the top group, to 42 so actually this should mean a reduction although as ever with insurance am sure we will end up paying more...

Edited to add - just looked up my R32 18-36 & my Dad's Passat 16-30 so it looks like we have indeed been "upgraded"

We were 20 but 20B IIRC. They did start using letters after 20, then the reclassification. Doesn't help when people realise how quick they are and apparently they are top of the getaway drivers list now....

Insurance asside - guess only time will tell if prices will drop or not.

Seems to be a lot for sale mid 20's average miles and decent spec that have been up for sale since easter.

thanks for your thoughts and still getting one regardless!!

*Audi UK wont be taking in part-ex's after the end of the year as the car is now "too old" and a dealer has just offered 17k part-ex on a 40k saloon (1-owner) against an RS5 as they are expecting them to plummet soon
I didn't know Audi UK took part exchanges? I thought it was the dealership which are a franchise? Do you think they are going to say "sorry we can't sell you a 60k RS5 because we can't take your RS4 in px?"
I'm afraid your mate is wrong or you have misquoted him.
An Audi dealer will take anything in px, sure they wont put it on their pitch to sell but they will take it in px and trade it or send to auction.
Having said that, as pointed out by someone else, they will retail any good clean car that conforms to their approved used car t&c, a few B5 rs4s still surface at main dealers.

As for prices, there is no sign looking at audi centre asking prices that they are going to drop much soon and with so many people like you and many others posting here how they are looking, the demand is obviously strong

10% on insurance? 2 tank fulls if that over a year? OMG it's TDI time

Sorry for any confusion - obviously Audi UK, nor any manufacturer sets rules for dealerships on what they can & cant take in and maybe my typo didnt come accross right.

I was told they arent looking to take in RS4's but i'm sure if it was a good model from any manufacturer it would be part-ex'd.
Only passing on what i've been told but maybe decent models will hold out stronger than ever if they are harder to come by?
Probably a generalisation by the dealership but got the impression that the RS4 has hit an age when price dips - who knows and guess only time will tell, but I'm hanging on for a month to see if prices dip.

My missus had a TDi - nice car but would never replace a V8 shreak......good engine but will always sound like a taxi on tickover!

If it is anyting to go by the local dealer in Silverlink will still p/x my 70+K mile RS4 against an R8 or RS6 (not that I'm looking of course.... :sekret: ). Don't know about those on Scotswood as I wouldn't buy a car from them.

as a matter of curiosity, i rang swindon audi and asked them how much they would give me against am A5 cabriolet up at 34k.

strong spec in white, with bang and olufson, acoustic roof, nav , bluetooth, leather, rs6 style 5 spoke's etc...a really nice car, and within 10 mins he was back to me and said he would give me 30k.

no haggle, no discussion, just that figure straight up.

my car is an 07/07 avant with 30 on it. i am the second owner, and i bought it for 34 k main dealer 5 months ago.

he had no problem seeing the value in my car, and i dont think other dealers will either provided the car fits by way of spec/mileage/owners.

i fail to see any impending bad news with regards to good rs4's, as there simply isnt anything like for like out there for the money..closest thing is the c63 and you'd need to give at least 10 grand to get into one, so not exactly even like for like.

All price guides are just that, a guide.
At the end of 2008 you may have just stuck you guide in the bin it was so out of touch, they couldn't have predicted Christmas.

The answer is don't px with Audi, I am sure a specialist would love to outbid them anyway for a straight sale - Autoprestige, Fontain, TVS etc

I have to say that there have been quite a few posts on here saying that the quality of the Audi Approved used cars isn't all that great so maybe that's why they haven't been shifting so well, after all it doesn't take an expert to find fault with most upper outer seat bolsters!

not too sure about that.

best bids i've ahd for mine through independant trade is 28500. they generally price 2k behind audi retail so i'm figuring this is why.

as for fontain, he had a rs6 for sale for 18500 in daytona..i wanted to do a deal and asked 30 for mine as he had none in stock. my brakes ahve been done recently, so no spend as such and he didnt even want to do a deal...

strange, as my car prepped should fetch 31500 upwards, depending on who its with, needs little prep and they had the profit for the rs6 to work in as well...

i think its very much luck of the draw with regards to timing.

if a dealer has no stock of rs4, then they will give you a bit more..all things worth considering when approaching someone for a deal.

that is good news
paid 34k 5 months ago
will give you 30k, sight unseen, for a trade

I bet you could private sell it for what you paid...

i doubt it bud.

the car has 6 months warranty on it, and is in very very good shape.

the seats are perfect etc, however, dealers would be ticketing it at 33-34k and that would be to include the warranty and maybe some rear tyres...perhaps 1200 quid, so you can expec them to want a good 1500 quid minimum in profit.

i think i could realistically draw 30k upwards, but 30k should be a no brainer.

2 owners, condition as you would expecct, 6 months warranty etc..its one of the better ones. anything else would be a bonus.

not sure what to do, but seeing as im unsure, i'l stick with what i've got for now...its a bloody good car when all said and done, and i'd be hard pressed to better it without incurring significant further invesment

bizarrely, i'm hankering after another e39 M5, even over the e60...i just like them and could see 15 grand back in my bank at the same time.
