maybe harder to pump = rise in temp?
maybe a bit less friction and more shear

No idea! I changed mainly on advice from Opie oils following SR-71s post track day oil analysis combined with some thinking around it helping to prevent and unwanted transfer as you suggest

I still can't figure out why 5W40 US vs 5W30 RoW?
