The RS4 has a complex engine management system which is very sensitive to, among other factors, inlet air temperature and restricts throttle opening in lower gears - so most dyno runs of an RS4 won't show it's true power - especially as few dyno operators properly measure powertrain losses (most use a "typical" guesstimate).

My 6p worth - my RS4 has had all the updates that Audi offer done completely free and under warranty, it still pulls acceleration times that suggest it easily makes the claimed 420PS.

My RS4 has NEVER let me down either in the UK or in the middle of nowhere in rural France. Last winter in the worst of the snow I drove to my wife's work and rescued her and 3 colleagues - no other car got in or out of their location until the next day (that's on normal summer tyres, and with a sensitive right foot).

My RS4 is the ONLY car that I still love to drive every day after 4+ years, every other car I've got bored of within 6 months.
CAnt say more - agree , best car I have owned

I let my brother have my M3 CSL, that was quick and special, but the RS4 Avant I now have is every bit as quick far more practical, does not break your spine on bumps(CSL does).
I think on anything other than a track I would rather be cornering in the RS4 than the M3 CSL!

Best car i have owned !!! As an allround package there is nothing out there that can compete,it can mix it with high end supercars and then spend the rest of the week doing humble duties in a relaxed manner, good build quality, good ride quality, sensible service intervals etc etc etc a few subtle mods sees you in a near perfect everyday supercar!!!

I'll second all of that lengster1. Three and a half years I had mine which is the longest I've ever owned a car. Just sold it today and had quite a few worries whether I was doing the right thing on the way. Deffo recommended.

+1

I've had my Sprint Blue Avant 3.5 years now & still smiling. :biggrin3:

It was bought to take the shopping, go to the dump, carry the dogs - oh, and to take on the track...and fulfils each one with ease.

Probably the last of the best built uber wagons...
