Tartan_Rob wrote:So after the 4 months in my current RS4, I have am jumping out of it for good - barring no disasters between now and Friday. The car never managed to excite me like my first RS4 or the RS6 thereafter. Perhaps its my age at 37 or perhaps its that I have an impending speeding case coming. Perhaps both of these. Using these cars the way they should is becoming harder and harder.

It is with all this in mind I am going to the opposite end of the spectrum and jumping into a Touareg V10 tdi. Slow, rolly-poly, large, plenty of toys, comfort and bags of torque...

The Q7 is huge and I dislike the looks from the side and rear. The Q5 is gorgeous and drives superb but I think overpriced just now.
I am picking up a q7 tomorrow for my other half, need a baby carrying vehicle as she's been using my rs4 for the past few months and that needs to stop, 1 curbed one so far :( .

They are huge but still like them.

It's a shame to lose the rs4 but if you've had your fun and are ready to grow up to a lux barge then go for it, I'm 37 aswell and love my rs4, it's great :D , have lots of nice twisties on the way to work with no cameras/police etc which helps
Audi rs6 c6 avant - hopefully coming soon
Audi A3 black edition
E9x 330 msport convertible - going soon
Defender 110 utility
RS4 Avant - gone

Which is?

I'd love to see a photo of you and your RS4 - you're so passionate about all things related to the RS4 you must be really proud of yours?

A slightly modified quote...

"never in the field of human conflict has so much been said by so few"

Sorry but the quality of threads of late are spoiling Rs246.

1976 2002
picked it up in 1979
put a lot of effort into the car, did most of the work myself
malagna(?) dark metallic red

body:
painted
Zender fromt spoiler
Foha rear spoiler

interior, grey & black:
Scheel sport seats (remember those?)
matching Scheel fabric doors, rear sides. parcel shelf
Alpine stereo with Sony amp
VDO oil temp & press gauges

suspension:
Suspension Techniques sport springs and sways
Bilstein HD shocks
brakes oem refurbished
wheels 14x6 Campagnolo, they made wheels for Ferrari and the best bicycle hardware in the world (large Italian foundry)
tires BFG 185/65/14 iirc

engine:
twin Weber side drafts, small jetting
Alpina cam (made by Schrick I think)
Bosch -008 mechanical advance distributor with permalux? electronic points
Stahl headers
Ansa exhaust

I disassembled the engine, took the head and block to a machine shop
had it surfaced (head to block)
crank align bored
cylinders lapped

had the head sent out to be rebuilt
reasembled with all new stuff: gaskets, hardware, hoses, pumps, etc.

I have pics and slides, but not digital...
it was a great car
handled like it was on rails, pulled hard too...
