Miltek exhausts
Miltek exhausts
Ok, my car is finally set for some TLC on the 25th June courtesy o Doug at MRC (top place and peeps there!)
Miltek Downpipes, no cats, non resonated backboxes, itg air filter, service and full map.
Anyone else had this setup fitted? What's the power like? Responsiveness? Miltek experiences?
Sounds like they make quality stuff but I have only modded jap cars before with HKS and Blitz gear...

RE: Miltek exhausts
Catless DPs? What are you doing about MOT?
I've got full nonres and 200cpi DPs, with a BMC panel filter and it was very noticable. I'm waiting to do a few other bits before a trip to MRC

No drone, volume is just right, if you want the full roar of the exhausts you need all the windows down. It's reasonably quiet in the car so you get the best of both worlds, it also sounds amazing at around town between traffic lights speeds with a really deep rumble. The only annoying thing is I get a metallic rasp until the pipes are up to temp, but then it's gone so just a slight niggle, but I've noticed than is lessening in the warm weather aswel

regarding drone, depends on wether you have manual or auto.
With non-res pipes and auto the drone is awful at 1800rpm, which is cruising rpm. I did 10 miles and had had enough.
I`d love to have fabricated some side exiting pipes just after the cats,
with butterfly valves to make them selectable
as without pipes its sounds awesome.

not sure, but at `legal` cruising speed @ around 1800rpm its horrible.
a manual has shorter gearing.
According to an exhaust maker I know, its a combination of harmonic frequency of stainless steel and V8s.
My brothers Monaro suffers a similar drone at the same rpm, but as his is a manual its easily overcome. He is running an aftermarket stainless system too.
So if you have an auto steer clear of non-res pipes.

Well, I am up here in MRC and so far things are going well, the old system is off and lying on the floor, the new downpipes are being fitted at the moment, big shiny pieces of metal and the curiously stamp plate from Miltek on it saying "Not for road use" - not arf!
all of the bits are in boxes and gradually being assembled on the car, should sound fantastic when on, mapped and rolling - cant wait, this must be how women feel when shopping for shoes!

Yeah, it makes a he'll of a difference, wait till your at motorway speeds and you nail it. Always reminds me of the opening scene of I Am Legend with the Mustang echoing around NY streets. You may get a metallic rasp when you start driving, but it goes the second the pipes are hot.
When mine was fitted people were coming out of neighbouring buildings to see what was making the noise haha
