LRC 100 Laser Jammer

Post by Stevecab » Sun Feb 09, 2003 6:46 pm

Fitted this in the other day so thought id give you all a review Image
According to www.ukspeedtraps.co.uk the LRC100 is highly recommended so as I knew a supplier of them i have bought myself one to see what they are like.
RRP of over £300 makes it a pretty expensive gadget, but then so are points on your licence so you work out whats more expensive now!
Comes in a pretty well packaged box

Comes with an array of wonderful things, a mini spirit level, mounting bracket, wires, buzzer, led, switch, instructions and the diffuser box, which is no bigger than the Audi key folded up.
I located the diffuser under the number plate as recommended and in the grill, its almost impossible to see it unless you crouched down and knew it was there.

Wiring was taken around the outside of the engine bay and then through the bulkhead and in behind the dash, where the buzzer has been located behind the dash so its out of view.
The LED i have mounted below the instrument panel above the steering column - in the photo below you can see it next to my car-kit microphone.

The switch i have located in the small compartment under the steering wheel, you can see it in the photo below next to where my car-kit speaker is located.

It has been wired to an ignition live wire, so that it always comes on when the car is started and after a few seconds the led flashes twice and the buzzer beeps twice to tell me its armed :Secret:

The most important thing about the kit is getting the diffuser located in the correct place, coppers will always aim at your number plate area of the car when zapping you, if you get zapped normally you will never know until they pull you over and tell you your speed was 110mph or whatever and then give you your 3 month ban Image
With the LRC100 it throws an error back to the laser gun and they cannot prosecute you for an unknown speed!
As soon as you get zapped the buzzer will go off and led will be flashing, the best advice is to turn the diffuser off straight away with teh switch and drop your speed to a legal one, the police cant really do a lot at this point, technically it could be illegal to own one, but on the same score garage door openers use the same technology so you could blag it if you ever get pulled over and they manage to find it!
You can test it after fitting with a remote control unit for a TV and that will set it off, but a better idea is to contact UK Speed traps Guide owner for a test as he offers this service - i wouldnt phone your local police station for a test as they might not be too happy Image

I have a few of these in stock, anyone interested contact me and ill sort you out a lower than RRP price if mentioning TyreSmoke
UK Speed traps have done a report as well see here

no, you would need to put another diffuser on the back if you wanted to protect the rear

Unfortunately those detectors or lasershields are 100% forbidden in Holland.
But that doesn't mean that we don't got them

Sorry to hijack, interested in fitting something similar. It's called Laser Propark. A parking sensor which seems to use a laser at the right frequency to affect laser equipment used by the rozzers. Any ideas? ta.
