Christ, what a missile!

Post by karl » Sun May 09, 2010 11:58 pm

I had the very rare opportunity today of joining a completely empty road, no doubt due to a closure further upstream; what a weird experience that is with no traffic at all in front or behind. Anyway, I thought I should take advantage of this possibly once in a lifetime opportunity so I took a second run at it...

I was and still am shocked at my car's capabilities - Jesus H. Christ! What a car this is!! I feel very lucky to have experienced what happened today and still shocked by what an animal this car is.

You will understand me for not going into further detail!!

All I can say is, if you are still driving a standard RS4, for god's sake get it along to MRC and allow them to make it the car it wants to be! I can't believe I almost sold this car - It's Fantastic!

we have a local road, a new limited access hw that no one uses, it's a toll road...long, straight and smooth, perfect concrete
there is a stretch when you get on, > 3 miles, straight, up hill...the car pulls to the speed limiter reeeeeal fast....

The RS4 is indeed special. Has a 996 C4S in front of me this morning driver only and he gunned it off the roundabout and up the dual carriageway and he wasn't getting away from me with 2up and a boot full of shopping. Pulled about 3 car lengths on me in total which was the reaction time between him gunning it and me responding and the gap stayed linear.

Not may cars that can do that.

LOL - Takes me back to when I first had the opportunity to give it some welly by myself after the MRC treatment. I actually had to pull in after a couple of minutes as I had adrenaline overload and my legs where like jelly etc.

That first time is gobsmacking though, like driving a completely different car.

Had the chance to 'stretch her legs' not long after taking delivery. Had a whale of time over the mountain in the Isle of Man during TT week, kept up with and passed the majority of bikes....not something I thought would be possible having been a biker myself

Yep always been a classic, many a licence lost, esp if there has been a cruis at Southend.
Money can't buy you love, but it can buy you a well sorted racecar

The day it opened plod caught 40 odd motorists with cameras. It even made the national newspapers.
All my points come from that road, well if your going to get points do it in style.

whisper it, I won't tell any one 8)

on a side note, had 2 skirmishes during my lunch drive...
not in the RS4 but my 951, with a 6'3" 220 lb chum

first Guards Red 1988 circa Carrera., dood and girl
beautiful car, pristine, don't see many, but it's beautiful day, clear, sunny 60F...dry, ~60 to 110+
he enters the HW and pulls up behind me, staggerd lanes, drop to 3rd and I give it the boot...I pull (his reaction time I'm sure) but once we are rolling, the gap stays even, I 'might' pull a bit, but nothing concrete
3 runs ~ the same
we 'thumbs up' each other

2005 Sti, appeared modded...dood and girl
2 pulls
pretty much dead even, maybe he pulled a bit at first, then held steady
45 to 100+
again thumbs up...

the Carrera didn't really surprise me, after reading a bunch of tests, and with my car being modded, I knew they were ~ equal...

the Sti, I thought he would have 'cleaned my clock', lol, very pleasantly surprised that I held my own...
my passenger is a muscle car guy, Mustang Cobra, wicked power...he was very impressed with the 'little 4 banger'
