That's a journalist not understanding the difference between PS and bhp.

The RS4 engine is rated at 420PS (414bhp), and the RS5 engine is rated at 444PS - a 24PS difference.
I think it's a 30ps difference 420 & 450.

Yeah but Porsche get 450PS/444hp from a 3.8...

I believe the RSR makes 480...

I reckon they should have at least redesigned the exhaust as well as the inlet...

It would be fair to say that Porsche & BMW are better known for their engines than Audi.

I know this is an Audi forum so soon I will have someone list me all the great Audi engines - look forward to that

BMW makes the best engines in the world, on par with Ferrari, I would put Porsche a close second

Is that why BMW'ed cars are always winning F1 or Le Mans or WRC or anything else for that matter?

;-)

BMW might make the best production engines in the world although even Wards
has Audi reaching for the stars at the moment...

BMW does quite well in the competitions they enter:
when in LeMans, they won, 1999, they beat Audi
they didn't race in 2000, and Audi won (good thing for Audi, lol)
American LeMans, both prototypes & GT
when in F1 in the 80's they won (Audi has never competed)
when in F1 in the 2000's, for a new team they did well, won races
and most acknowledged they had the best/most powerful engine
but the engine is only a part of the equation
in the current US LeMans, the M3 is holding it's own against the 911's, who have had a program for years...this is BMW's first year
they also do well in euro touring car racing
they don't race in WRC??? never have, not their niche
Auid: NEVER F1, the highest form

look who's won more best engines over the last 10 years...

you might like this then:

BMW actually was number 1 in 2010, they won best overall..

in the wiki list:
BMW 27
Audi 10

BMW never over-rates their engines, and their DI do not have deposits
you PAY for 414 HP, you GET 414 HP ... and no deposits

they both make great engines...but I would think any impartial observor would rate BMW higher in both production & competition...
Audi is more innovative, BMW more traditional, but BMW has 'modernized' over the last few years...
obviously 'the best' is on a case by case basis....

ironically the RS4 engine, imo, one of Audi's best (and best regardless of mfg) was designed by a longtime BMW engineer, who iirc, went back to BMW after a short stint at Audi...he designed the e30 M3 engine in the 80's, lol
