RS4 - braking

Post by Ade74 » Mon Apr 19, 2010 6:23 pm

Hello

First posting after buying my 07 plate RS4 on friday (what a car!!).

Quick question: bought the car from audi but noticed when I brake progressively from over 30 mph the car judders with the wheel moderately sawing back and worth. Plus I wouldn;t say the ride is smooth (appreciate firm suspension).

Will be contacting Audi for their thoughts etc but any thoughts from the floor?

If did ask about the discs and said they were ok plus wouldn't an audi main dealer check these and the wheel balance?

With the 30 day hand back I'll be interested to hear what they say!

I wouldn't bank on it as there is a lot of variability in service levels between Audi dealers. Best bet is tell them to fix the issue or they get the car back.

When I picked mine up I didn't have any vibration under braking but did notice that the front discs were almost at there receommended wear limit. When I pressed the dealer on this they changed the discs and the pads out.

Suspension wise if you have SS+ then you will notice that the ride is a little harsh especially with all the potholes etc. However no harm in getting them to check the DRC system for leaks and charge pressures.

This is deffo worth checking. Had the exact same thing you describe and was traced to one of the balance weights having come free after new tyres fitted.
