Your car looks awesome with the optic pack...not really a fan of the optic pack but it lokks good....
Thanks. The matt silver grille surround just didn't look right combined with light silver met.

They seem to have that effect on anyone who sees them - even the main stealer couldn't believe how awesome they looked.

The discs are 38mm thick, and weigh less than 5kg each, and the calipers are all-alloy - even the pistons . . . . :kissmyrings:

Thanks for the comments.

Re the Audi rings - surely everyone would know it was an Audi - hence no need to remove them . . . . unless you were just after the 'clean look'. But if you were to remove the rear rings, you would need to remove the fronts too - and that would look a bit naff ?!?

That's a upgrade I would very much like to make. Have you driven a car with the standard brakes to compare the main differences. :)

Yup - before I orderd mine, I took a stealer demo (with standard 8-pot steelies) out for half a day, and gave the brakes a serious workout - and wasn't overly impressed.

I ordered the ceramics based on the RS4 demo, and also because I found the standard brakes on my (then current) B6 S4 woefully pathetic. On one trackday in the B6 S4, with virtually new front discs and pads, the front anchors were catching fire (the official photographer kept seeing them, but couldn't photo them) - and were pretty much shot after about 8 laps!

A couple of other attributes - because the ceramics reduce the unsprung weight by half, the front end handles better, and the steering is slightly lighter. Finally, the P-Zero Rossos gave up the will to live with the ceramics!

HTH

OH, BTW, I also gave the C6 RS6 Avant a full day blast with the standard steelies - and found them rather 'fragile' - bar-be-qued themselves after just one hard three figure stop!

Thanks

I find the brakes fine for most everyday driving, but was a bit dissapointed with the fade at repeated high speed slow downs. I am going to try the Pagid RS29's (or similar) at next pad change to see if that improves the situation. :)

The brake fluid is new but I suppose could be upgraded, and I have not been convinced by braided hoses but would be willing to try them.

Yeah, for 'Mr Average' - the standard steelies will be more than adequate. But when the RS is used <cough> as designed <cough> - they seem a little inadequate. I tend to fill my car (boot and back seats) and go for long v.high speed blasts in Germany & France, and with the S4, just one modest slow-down from about 130 had them fading.

Be very careful with brake fluids. The OEM VAG fluid is more than up to the job, and actually out-performs many so-called 5.1 fluids. Another issue with non-standard fluids it that they will void the warranty - from (I think) either 2006 or 2007 model year - brake fluid must only comply with VW 501.14 - which is a special low viscosity fluid, specifically designed to cope with the minute intricate bores of ESP systems. I think our Bosch ESP systems are pretty durable, but the Teves systems fitted on Audi A3s, most VWs, and most BMWs have a very high failure rate - attributable to either the wrong fluid, or missed scheduled fluid changes.

Anyhow, we have well and truely hijacked the thread and gone off topic - maybe best to continue in a new thread?

They look great, particularly because it is black housings next to black plastic.

Got a bargain on fleabay or two new covers in sprint blue, but I'm not so sure it will work as well because there is still the contrast against the black plastic fixings. Even happier with the price now you told me how much they were as a factory option.

Thanks! much appreciated  - although mechanically it was spot on when I bought it the bodywork and wheels showed 3 years of neglect but I was struggling to find this spec car :( Few months work and I think I'm nearly there...final touch was the badging and a good condition chrome finish exhaust last week :)
