Selling my 02 RS4 :(

Post by pomy » Tue Mar 23, 2010 5:25 am

Been contemplating selling the RS4 as i'm needing to invest more money into expanding the business... i didn't really want it to come to this and i'm still unsure about the whole thing, but with the way the banks are robbing everyone right now.. especially those in small businesses, it seems like a choice i might have to make.

Another good reason is that the b5 is really just kept as a toy and has hardly been used to justify keeping it right now... i bought it in late nov 2006 for almost £36k from a TVR dealership... drove it literally 1000miles only since then.. it just stays in a warm garage, polished up most of the time and taken for a weekend run on a sunny day evry so often.

Its Nogaro Blue, 2002 02 plate with almost 34,000 miles on the clock, SKN remap 430bhp, milltek catback, 19x9.5 mtm bimotos and full Movit brakes all round.. the car is mint as you can imagine.
Also has an RS4 private plate on it.
I'm not letting it go for silly money as i could probably manage to keep it through this climb out of the recession... but i'd rather make it easier for myself and buy something to play with again later on in the year possibly.

I was offered £27,000 from a trader that purchased my Cayenne Turbo from me during the summer last year, although he now works for a different company altogether from before, so that option has gone.. but i'm not letting it go for something daft like £20k.
This is one of the last registered 4's with such low mileage... and the car is rare as rocking horse sh't anyway!
My main plan was to spend lots of dough on it over time.. tuning it further and turning it into a monster... but the way the current climate is, it won't be happening right now.

I was thinking of contacting Nick Johnston since his speciality is b5's and csl's... either that or spread the word round on here to see if i can be persuaded to sell it... maybe even privately.

As a last resort i might chop it in for a used b7 so i can actually use it everday without fear of upping the mileage etc... the b5 for me atleast is so much more of an occasion, more desirable and something you feel has already attained legendary status, especially from its tuning aspect and overall road presence.
Something like a b7 would feel a little more normal for me... i'd feel more comfortable using it everyday... i had a friends for a week early last year and it was a great all rounder.

No decision has been made yet in anyway.. but lads, what do you all think?

Cheers

Pomy

NJ will be interested in it if the price is right, which means trade prices.

Look at Niils car that was similar mileage and his sold for 23.5k! So market it right and there will be some interest.

I say get some pics up! With 34k on the clock you can ask good money and it'll probably be sold to a like minded collector to admire and not drive much

the noggy blue makes it more desirable for more people certainly, noggy is number 1 colour in my books

x2

I would also highlight a shiny black one being sold in Germany currently on ebay with offers already bid of £32k, and still 5 days to go.

I would say you'd be looking at a min of £26k, and maybe even as high as £30k IMHO, due to the car's age/mileage.

It may take a few months to shift but if you're not in a hurry then I'm sure it'll be sold at that sort of price. NJ will defo buy it, but as mentioned he wont be wanting to spend more than probably £22k on it, which is too low.

Sorry to hear it's gotta go, but sounds like you won't lose too much on it.

Yes, sorry Niils 25.5K my bad...

Nick would offer something in the region of 20K based on his past dealings with cars of this mileage.

I'd do as other have said and create a really nice ad for this selling the condition, age and miles and then let the car sell itself. It's a 24K+ car end of...

Ditto!

Definitely one for someone who loves the B5, and wants a low mileage one for keeps! Oh and in the best colour of course!

Thanks for all the advice lads... i'm deff not letting it go for under £25k now :)
I'll get the car out on the next dry day, dusted off and polished for a few pics.. might even get a photographer to take them if i decide to put the car up privately.

The plan is to release some more money to expand the business and add more stock to the newer workings... so some of the dough can be used for that.. the rest can maybe go on a used c5 RS6 (relax Rich haha) or an e46 M3 possibly... liking the 6 though!
I know its not the cheapest car to run as an everyday car but i can break up the weekly jaunt with the daily run around gti when its not away with some other family member. Running a 6 3 days a week for about 60-80 miles shouldn't be much of a problem.. i managed that with the cayenne turbo for 7 days a week and thats even heavier for fuel!!! lol

I'd like to venture back to a b5 again if a well sorted one pops up in a year or so boasting some ridiculous bhp and upgrades.. maybe one with not so low mileage next time that i can afford to keep along with the rest in the stable and not feel guilty adding miles to it. lol!
Either that or go the whole hog and look for a gt2 clubsport... i actually had a deposit down for one 4 years ago but the deal went dodgy when the trader sent one of his chavvy looking staff members from London to collect our car without any paperwork or proof of showing who he was!!! He was sent packing and the deal was off!

Btw lads, if anyone wants to view the car or is interested at all, you're most welcome :)

Cheers!
