Bloody typical.....
RE: Re: RE: Re: RE: Bloody typical.....
Yes - easy job for YOU!!! lol
It'll keep me out of trouble for the next week or so when I get home from work!!! might have to invest in a small garage heater - BRRRRRR!!!
Would you recommend flushing at all?? Or just clean the strainer and put fresh oil in it???

In order to replace a part, the dealers needs to verify that it is faulty otherwise the warranty company will not pay up.Unless there's something else I could do?
On a slight boost leak, they usually cannot see this visually so need to pressure test the IC.
They will most probably not have the equipment in the workshop to do this but if you persist, they will outsource the work as long as you agree to pay if they do not find a fault.
You can also get MRC to fax off confirmation of the leak to the dealer to further strengthen your case.

Will do and many thanks for the advice.
No matter where you go, there you are.

I hope the damage isn't terminal in your 1.8T.

And it was only last week, it sailed through its MOT. Guess the sludge was just building up and finally blocked the pipe.
Grizz: You would fit a new pump aswell???? Is that likely to be damaged? Or just needs a bloody good clean? I suppose trying to pump sludge is not to healthy for it.

Ha! Did he return it with ANY depth left on the rear rubber?paddybrenn wrote:A mate had his Z4 M in and they gave him an Aston Vantage after he complained they didn't have anything like for like....
Awesome, I'd be breaking stuff on the Z4M every other day to get back into the Vantage.

JD - had the same issue on my old B6 1.8T

David - yes same car B6 1.8T Sport. Did you fix yourself?
Read the Haynes manual (better than nothing) and seems straightforward except it mentions Audi recommends replacing the 'intermediate plate' and using some kind of sealant. I assume its just normal gasket sealant???? Every new job is a learning curve!!

Looks like a dead easy job to change the oil pump. Messy, but easy
If it's tried to pump sludge, maybe you should flush the system? Something to unclot the oil channels since some of them are quite small? I don't know if that even exists. Warfarin for cars

Probably a lot easier on ramps rather than axle stands!
Yes, I was unsure about flushing. Some people say flush it a few times and then use cheap oil for a bit, drain, reflush and repeat until its free of sludge/contaminants. and others say it will dislodge dried sludge and might cause further problems.
Personally, I think I'll flush a few times. I'd rather try to clean it as well as I can. But I guess I had better clean/replace the strainer first as its not going to pump the flushing agent around.

What I would personally do, is first clean the strainer, but loads of flushing agents in and see if the engine runs. No point spending lots of money if it's started to seize.

Just looked on VAGCAT and seen there is no sump gasket, just silicone sealant. Any idea if its special stuff or can get it from Halfords????
Also, according to Haynes, I need an engine hoist?!?!?! Is this to take the weight of the engine while the subframe is removed?? This is sounding more like I need to take it to a garage?!?!?!
