Tempomat

Post by cz.Garry » Sun Feb 21, 2010 9:59 pm

Hello,
I'm new rs4 user. I've got problem with tempomat. It doesn't work. I don't have icon on clocks even. On VCDS -> motor unit -> channel 67 (i think) -> group 4 i've got changing status but actually no icon on clocks and no sign of function.

Any idea?

cruise control

is the switch pull back to enable it?
stalk clicked forward disables, clicked back enables....
push button on stalk to set, tap stalk up to increase, down to decrease
brake/clutch/push stalk forward to turn off

Sure, I tried everything. I was so confused that i looked at user guide to confirm that i tried it right way. My friend has same tempomat (cruise control) in passat and showed me how to control it.

I think that basic problem is -> i don't have shining icon on clocks.

that indicates a problem, if what you are saying that when driving, pulling the stalk back, and pushing the stalk button it does not engage, and the warning light doesn't come on...but that is NOT the problem...that is an indicator...

will the car start without the clutch depressed? bad clutch pedal?
do your brake lights work OK?
check fuses

I will try it tomorrow. (car is in garage, away from home). Actually I remember I had an error in motor unit - Clutch pedal - nonsensical signal. Deleted it. I will check it, if error will appear again.

Brake lights works.

Fuses have to be checked :)

Thanks for tips!!

EDIT: I understand icon will sign that CC is on. But I can't switch it on :)

EDIT2: Don't think CC has own fuse :/ it will share with something -> therefore something should not work too.

clutch switch: DTC 17947 - Clutch Pedal Switch (F36): Implausible Signal
that means it is seeing something is can't interpret properly, or not expecting to see
since there may be an issue, it's not allowing the cruise control to engage
my best 'guess'

I don't remember what exactly error was. But i think i've got error you typed.

I understand what Implausible Signal is but i did't realized that it could be root for non functional CC.

the clutch switch is an input to the cruise control module, it disengages when the clutch is depressed so revs don't go thru the roof when the car is under load...

let us know what you find

Motor Unit -> no error
Starting w/o clutch -> impossible

"clicked back enables....
push button on stalk to set"

This took me a while to get correct - the stalk needs to be in the right position & then a push of the button lights the green light & sets your speed. Then if you slow down, pulling the stalk back again resumes your speed again - I thought CC was defective until I "got lucky" so I would try with the stalk/button a bit more unless you are sure are working correctly (& yes is just like the Passat) ?

might be a couple of clutch switches
one to start, fullly depressed
one to disengage the cruise control, at the begining of the stroke...

MB2 raises a good point: took me a bit to figure it out, not really intuitive...

I've got in motor unit -? group 66 -> 2nd field value 1100 this means clutch is pressed (not fully). I took out clutch switch (8E0 927 189B).

Is any way to measure this switch? (fully pressed = short circuit or smt)

In every position ive got open circuit.

Any idea?
