I'll be interested in seeing how long the cables are. I like having my iphone in the center console rather than in the glovebox.

as long as the snow here does not get any deeper! The last snow stopped post for days up here.
I hope it streams audio through the bluetooth as that was how read it on their site. There are a couple of youtube videos with various folk showing the ipod being used with the lead plugged into the bottom. But only one video with the bluetooth function being used, although it only shows the guy using the phone function. It looks like you have got to answer and hang up the phone using the handset button as there is not buttons on their bluetooth module. A small price to pay if it works? I will give you all an update as soon as I get my hands on it!

It does say "it will allow you to make and receive calls hands free through your car stereo speakers" which implies that you can answer the phone without touching it. We'll have to see. We're waiting with bated breath!

Well guys the kit is here, on first impresion I would say the units are of the usual quality you would expect for this type of kit. Cheep connectors, short cables and a realy bad manual. But if it does what it says on the tin it could be good.
The first problem I can see is the answer call button is on the bluetooth module its self. This would be less a problem if it only had a cable coming out of one end. But it is like a pass through unit with the cable to the main unit at one end and the other cable to the rather short <2 Metre mic cable. Oh and the plastic cover over the bluetooth link LED fell inside the unit 30 seconds after taking it out of its packet! I will maybe get a chance tonight to remove my RNS-d and loosley install the kit just to see how / if it works. So watch this space! will report back later.

Guys, hold yer horses!
I have just tried setting the Xcarlink up in the car without properly installing it. Firstly I removed my RNS-d headunit, unplugged the autochanger connector and plugged in the Xcarlink box link through adaptor cable. Plugged in the ipod cable and connected my 3Gs iphone, message on the ipod screen. 'This device will not support charging with this accessary!' thats not good considering thats the main reason for having the cable. Oh well the FF, RW work well with the cable and the ipod screen still works which is unusual for ipod cables.
I then connected the bluetooth adaptor to the box. It took less than 30 seconds to pair the device, which appears as headphones on your ipod. You can then use your ipod display / buttons to play any music on your ipod. This does work well, quick and precice, just as if you are listening through your headphones. The sound quality is not bad at all. there are some artifacts in the high frequencies, but no more than you get from your ipod headphones. The bass is great. So that side is a plus point. The original CD changer in the boot does not seem to work at all when the unit was plugged in. I will need to read the instructions again! Saying that it might be due to my battey being flat! I never noticed the passenger heated seat was on and I had the ignition on for 30 Mins! Doh! I have now removed everything and the car is back together. I will install it all at the weekend and take some photos. Hope this helps.

Isn't there something different about how the iphone 3gs charges, compared to earlier versions and ipods?
For instance I bought a multi adapter to charge my 3Gs, the bumf with the adapter stated it could charge ipods and some iphones but when I tried it using the usb lead end to either my laptop/mains plug/cigarette lighter socket no joy.
So the lack of charging might not entirely be the manufactures fault, although they should state clearly on their website whether it can charge the 3Gs (3G aswell I think)

I was just about to post that exact same thing. It says it should charge the 3G (and that means 3Gs too) so what's the deal?
