When I first got mine, had the fronts at 48psi and the ride was (trying to think of something witty and funny here)..

Gimme a minute or two..

The car feels just like it did on broken DRC.......

I am really pissed off with it.

Anyone want a set of New Vreds (1000 miles) £500.00?

In fact anyone want the tyres- comes with the car for £17000.

This is a sorry tale Mooch. Are you absolutely certain it's entirely down to the new tyres?

Seeing as there are quite afew happy customers here - me included, couldnt you possibly put it down to a bad batch? Try emailing them again to see if they'll replace with a new set. That way you'll know if they are <beep> (as the current opinion suggests) or if your just unlucky.

There was an article somewhere about the shelf-life of tyres. Apparently, if they have been sitting somewhere for a while, they will be uber <beep> and will never be any good. So possibly yours may have been sitting around?

I know I complain that mine are very firm, but they do handle very well, wet or dry. I can go round roundabouts at silly speeds with good grip and when it snowed, I drove up to Norwich and back from Herts. to a mates wedding and the snow was really bad up there. They were perfectly fine and gave very good grip.

If yours are as bad as you say, then either a) You have a bad batch/stale set or b) The GYEF1s are <beep> stupendously good!

You say you went to WIM right? When I went there and had a geo done with the new tyres, it took a VERY long time before they came good for 2 reasons a) The geometries were different to what I was used to and b) The tyres took ages to scrub in.

Sorry to say this mate but give it a little longer for the tyres to scrub-in relative to the new geometries. They WILL come good - unless that is as I mentioned above and they are stale/bad batch.

IRHTH.

In 2007 I got hold of the formula, the European car- an tire manufacturers use to determine the advice pressures for cars, and worked it out .
Learned myself Excell to make spreadsheets for it.

Translated a few to English to go worldwide with it , and discovered that the American TRA uses the same formula , but with another power in it up to 2005, wich comes to lower pressures .

http://cid-a526e0eee092e6dc.skydrive.li ... e-pressure
In this map spreadsheet and examples to re-calculate the advice-pressures when other then original tyres. But can also be used to check the original and see if you can go lower in what conditions.

If you check the tire-pressure regularly - you can go lower savely.
The right pressure for the load gives beter grip.

From there you can navigate my complete public map of hotmail to find more spreasheets and articles.
If you fill in the data of your car and tyres you will find the 3.2 and 3.4 bar back at vacation load upto maximum speed.
I am prepared to give an example if you give me the needed data, asked on the first apearing sheet.

Cheer up mooch, we still love you. Just take the car out and get the tyres burnt off by way of a very long 4 wheel spin or 4wd drift. That'll put the grin back on your grid.
