dont know anything more, but logically, once they take the RS 6 out of production they will release the RS 5
I think it will be a 4.2V8, only question is if they force induce or just up the power vs. The RS 4

My local stealer told me a few weeks ago it will definately be a supercharged/turbo charged V6 though I'll believe it when I see it...he didn't have any dates but was happy to take a 2k deposit!

Can I just ask about these deposits people talk about putting down on cars that don't even exist yet. Is it as simple as it sounds? You give the dealer £2k now and he allows you to order a car if/when it comes to market? What's the difference between that and just going into the dealer when the car is ready for order? Other than the fact that they've had your £2k for a indefinite length of time. What happens if they go out of business in the meantime, or you don't like the car that comes to market?

Sorry if it's a daft question. I'm just wondering as if the RS5 is coming along in the next 2 years I'd be keen to get one based on what I've read.

Apparently it will have the 4.2 V8 NA with 450PS and 460NM. Also it'll only be available with 7 speed s-tronic and first with manual gearbox later. Should makes it debut at the Geneva motor show in March, with production starting early summer 2010.

Don't know how true all that is, but the sources like Qisha off rs6.com are supposed to be reliable.

There's quite a bit of info/speculation over on there RS5 forum:

Was told the S5 sportback (5 door hatchback thingy) will be release first and that won't be till mid 2010. After that, it will depend on demand for the S version, whether the RS one will be released. What ever engine thats fitted to the S version will almost certainly be fitted to the RS one, with the tune set higher. Very much doubt it'll be the 4.2 - more likely a spin off of the current S4 engine.

One reason you give the 2k deposit or any deposit, is that when it comes out and there is high demand for the car then u can sell it at a premium if audi dont have the stock or have a waiting list for the car. thats if u wanna sell!

Cheers for the link Billy.

As it was explained to me, the deposit is fully refundable if, after details are released and I have sat down and spec'ed up the car and decided it's not for me, no questions asked.

One of the benefits of doing so is you don't get stuck at the bottom of a long waiting list and the car should be on the market within a year.

+2, Twin inlet...just goes to show how tunable the engine is.

This looks genuine enough to convince me its on the way. TTRS wheels, front air dams, RS grill mesh and disguised arches.

I was speaking with the dealer earlier this week and he mentioned that the engine in this car was going to be a 4.2 V8 with 450PS unit.

We'll just have to wait and see.
