MMI Navigtion - adding DAB etc?

Post by elrao » Wed Jan 06, 2010 3:17 pm

My new S4 comes with the MMI (HDD) nav option with the AMI in the glove box etc. but it doesn't have DAB which is a shame.

Was wondering how difficult it would be to add the DAB tuner, has anyone done this?

IIRC craigyb has done several DAB retrofits to MMI cars. See http://www.tclsatnav.com
Gone: 2006 B7 RS4 Avant (Phantom Black)

Cheers, had found his website but is 'closed' till the end of the week and doesn't say where he is located?

Was also wondering about finding the parts and instructions on how to fit myself as opposed to paying £499 to have it supplied&fitted (which seems the going rate)

He's based in Sale near Manchester but travels the country doing retrofits.

It's closed until the end of the week because he's sunning himself in warmer climes - lucky so and so!

The DAB is now built into the radio in the newer cars, so it actually requires a new radio system. Around £600 alone from Audi, plus the antenna system and fitting. Problem is the radio/amp/DAB now has component protection and requires an SVM code (which I don't have ) to activate it fully.

So I don't currently offer DAB on any 3G cars.

Craig, how far north do you travel to do fitting??
Also could you PM me a price to retro fit an RNS-E + bluetooth prep in a B5 RS4 (have the correct Kufatec loom, mic, etc).

Thanks,
Des.
Just can't get the smile off my face......
