wet carpet advise needed

Just noticed tonight that my rear passenger side carpet in my Avant is soaking and smells of screen washer fluid!

Front is dry and so is both the drivers sides.

I have just done about 300 miles in really wet / icy conditions and used three tank fulls of screen wash mix.

Does anyone know what could have caused this wettnes, if its got something to do with the rear washers and if so how do I fix it?

This cars great but bl**dy frustrates at times...................

Check your drain whole's... they WILL be blocked....

Especially the ones between the engine and the bulkhead.

Someone is bound to explain better than me. Serach for your problem there is quite a bit about it on here

Any idea where to look for blockages, seems like this could be the problem is it the sunroof drain holes?

Not good!
I have had water ingress a couple of times with A6's in general.
On all the ocations, they were caused by blocked drain holes in the baulkhead.
On my 2004 RS6 last week the tube froze between the bonnet and the engine bay, this caused the hose to pop off.
I thought the squirters were just frozen. It was not until I had run out of screen wash that i checked the pipework. Just as well my baulkhead holes are clear.
What I'm saying here is maybe your screen wash pipe has popped off and your drain holes are blocked leaking into the passenger floorwell. hence the smell of screen wash fluid.
By the way you need to do the following urgently, you need to-
A:- source of the leak (water ingress) .
B:- Get the carpet lifted up to drain out the water and dry out.
If you don't then expect your alarm, central locking etc to pack in, in an a couple of weeks.
I have had to pay for two Comfort modules due to this as they are under the passenger seat. At £275 each, not good!

I will check out the washer pipe work and drain holes pronto and see if I can dry out the rear carpet with a Vax or similar machine.
This seems to tie up with the fact I've just done so many miles in the freezing cold infact it was so cold the screenwash froze like green slime on the wipers with the windchill and I commented to my mate that when the jets froze up ''I wonder where all that waters going?'' I now know where, my footwell!! what a brainwave from Audi to put a box of electronics under a seat!

Tell me about it, i am realy paranoid about it these days and the slightest steaming up of the windows and i'm in there checking the carpet.
The last time it happened to me I could'nt understand why my interior light was on at night and the battery was going flat etc.
This is the Comfort module (black box in the puddle!!)

Must be a common fault as Audi always have a unit in stock!!

The pipe has a joint behind the kick panel on the drivers side , Remove the panel , Get a lamp and have a look . The pipe is black..

had this before , was from rainwater coming in thro pollen filter due to audi tec cock up , which they sorted out

also , at grizz's , had screen washer water in car , pipe runs along side of car , was leaking where pipes joined to each other , pulled carpet back , found pipes , and refitted , thanx again Grizz

I had this recently. Whilst at MRC for it's service, got Doug to check it out as I'm a lazy bazzard. It turned out that the pipe had frozen where it joins (as above) and popped off.

Thankfully the area was dry because I was all too familiar with the dangers because I had a similar problem on my old A6 4.2 and so as soon as the rear washer stopped working, I just KNEW not to use the fecker.

I'm so paranoid now that I am running max-concentration of screenwash to stop it freezing again.

Anyone had an issue with the rear felt trim beneath the tailgate getting soaked? Water is clearly getting past the rubber seal but seal seems intact.

could be a washer pipe in the tailgate has come apart and is leaking washer fluid when the door is closed ?

Appologies for jumping on this thread. But chap I know has an A8 which keeps getting a wet front passenger carpet. Drivers side is fine and rears are fine. Any ideas? Checked drainage ducts in the bulkhead but were clear. Wondered whether it was a sunroof drain hole as I believe they run down the front and rear pillars?

LOVE YOU GUYS!!! Man I just logged on to ask advise with the fact I am going through screen wash fluid like no tomorrow and suddenly, the passenger side rear footwell is soaking, full of screen wash!!!!! AND LOOK AT THE THREAD I FOUND!

I have noticed that the rear squirters do work but don't pump it out full pelt, thought that maybe some of it somehow is getting in the car. Grizz mate, can you be a little clearer on exactly how to check the prob? What and where to look for drain holes? How the hell do you get the carpet up? Kick panel in the passenger rear I assume is the side section at floor level?????????? Sorry, Im a bit thick! Thanks chaps..
