I'm afraid I disagree. A good friend has a B6 S4 V8 and you can barely hear the exhaust. He gunned it in a tunnel for me and it was quite an unenthusiastic affair compared to the 6 - even an OEM 6.

So that's WTF I'm on about.

I owned a B6 S4 Avant and it sounded fine to me, with an OEM zorst.
Ask any B6/7 S4 owner if their car sounds like a sowing machine...?

I would imagine you'd be able to count the people that agree with you on one hand. But this is a forum and if that's your opinion, furry muff.

A catback system is likely to achive 10-20bhp. DPs possiblhy a further 10bhp. A remap with the exhaust changed releases even more bhp/ft lbs.
I know Miltek quote "8-10% power gain" but I suspect that even your figs are on the high side.

From Memory:
MRC Stage 1 (no exhaust change) gives 500BHP
MRC Stage 2 including catless downpipes (not really street legal) plus tweaked map gives 535BHP - ie a gain of 35 BHP.

I doubt that you'd get as much as 30 without also tweaking the map to take advantage. My guess would be about 10 from the cat back system, and 10 from the decat downpipes.

Probably right - my point being though there will be some performance gain from changing the pipes...

Tell me this doesn't sound the Bo-lax?

Or this

(BTW- its better now- it was the mother of all boost leaks)

A full milltek Catless is definately the best way to get the turbo's/engine to spool up faster, their are people who claim that the free flowing exhaust give you a power increase of 30 hp.........but i am not sure on that one.

I am sure Grizz or Minhea or Doug will be able to confirm or dispel accordingly, but my understanding was 10hp tops from a FULL milltek alone...but it does allow you to "tweek maps" to take advantage of the free flow.

My old man told me he had a Dino back in the day, he took the exhaust off and took it to Hong Kong where he hds some guys in a factory replicate it in COPPER for him
Apparently copper has a fantastic tone!! Can it be done for the C5 I wonder?

How does a B6/7 V8 sound anything like a sowing machine? It's the same feckin engine as the RS6 minus turbo's!!!

It's still a 4.2litre V8. It still sounds like a V8 with or without an aftermarket exhaust.

Still sounds lovely. End of.
But isn't his point that the exhaust is probably very different?

I'd not expect war to break out over exhaust noise..... I only asked if anyone had fitted one of these APR exhausts....

I guess the answer is NO!!!!!

And I think I'll be going with the Milltek option now....
