Quick update

Phoned Direct Line for an insurance quote yesterday. They quoted around £850 for the year, with about £100 difference between standard and Stage 1 tuned. Thats a bit more than I used to pay for my M3 - didn't strike me as particularly good deal, but I've been with them for years and they've always been spot on. I'm 40 with full NCB and 3 points.

Anyone else with Direct Line? I will read all the insurance threads I can find but if anyone wants to vouch for a good policy they have in he mean time, that would be great.

Hoping to see DK's car sometime this week and there's another - low mileage, but more money, KW's, warranty (not Audi) - that I may go to see; though the thought of dropping £2.5k on an Audi warranty is sobering!

All comments welcomed!

SteveH - did you ever find DK's rolling road numbers?

ash, try elephant / admiral

there's no point dropping £2.5k on an Audi warranty IMO, just keep it as a "pot" for repairs and hope the gearbox doesnt go !

I got policy from "Mayfair Online". They called me remembering they missed out on my business last year. In fairness they wanted to know if they could quote for my Porsche 993, but I got them to quote for the RS6. Mine is an Avant with remap and H&R/ Hotchkis arbs. It's insured for 6000 miles per annum with 2 other named drivers for £475 with £250 total excess.

I would recommend trying them. I spoke to a guy called Sukkhi Sandhi.

That's a really steep quote! I'm 28 - 5ys NCB and 0 points and I was £400 from elephant - car on street, protected no claims etc.

My experience with Admiral/elephant is that you play the two off each other to a point. Also - a handy hit for their website is to keep going back into the 'amend quote' section and leave everything as it is then click next - it sometimes drops the quote by up to £60!

All depends on where you live and how many claims you have. I got mine for £740 odd with Kwick Fit but then I did have 4 claims in the last 3 years

Another vote for Admiral, I'm on their multi-car policy and the '6 is costing around £450, on drive, full NCB Protected, mods declared.

Sorry forgot to add my 3 points, wife's accident 3 yrs ago and garaged.

Genuinely this was hundreds cheaper that anything else on the Meerkat or Go Compare and Direct Line weren't close. My renewal was Elephant - £690.

Thanks chaps

Just phoned Elephant, they quoted £650 fully comp, protected NCB, mods declared (Stage 1 tune), 3 points and £400 total excess.

That sounds pretty good to me. Now, I just need the car!

Try Swiftcover cheap as chips, I'm £420.00 F/Comp, 37yrs old, 5yrs NCD, driveway, £250.00 excess, standard avant (no mods yet)!
