struggling with bluetooth

Sorry to hijack, if you dont have phone pref do you still have bluetooth and if not can you get it fitted???

Bluetooth module can be retrofitted, sits in behind your glovebox and IIRC is plug and play. Module you can get from fleabay etc for £250+

That's new and warrantied for 12 months, you could pick up a reconditioned one, far more discreet than the crap looking dash mounted cradle. Not bad given RNS-E units are £500+, analogue TV module is £200+ and then you are looking at serious money for digi and DAB tuners!

The Audi phone module INCLUDES Bluetooth, so if you have Audi phone prep then you have Bluetooth and if you don't... you don't!

Plus as I found out a couple of weeks ago when removing a "car audio expert's" installation of a Parrot, the installation of an aftermarket kit can be done very well or very badly...

For me it was a "no brainer" to order my RS4 without the Audi phone kit (so I kept the proper RS4 wheel and didn't get an ugly cradle) and retrofit the Audi phone kit myself.

Provided:
1) the phone module is coded correctly
2) you have a phone and module that are compatible, e.g. iPhones won't sync phonebooks with older phone modules
3) with certain Nokia phones you had to install phone book manager software on the phone

That was my car & I must echo the comments on here. The Audi BT kit is expensive but the integration & the functionality make it to my mind worth it as I get - signal strength on the RNS-E display at all times, who is calling in the DIS + access to the phone's memory (last called, phone book, voice mail etc.) Much better & neater than the aforementioned Parrot (with a dead display as well as a questionable install) & also better than my previous Nokia kit (although I integrated this so not a lot neater...) when I had to look at the phone to see who was calling.

You get all the functionality you have listed through a Bluetooth module. The only bit I miss out on is in car charging but Blackberry's have decent battery life that I don't need that anyway.

Sorry, that is what I meant - I have had the Audi BT module retrofitted so no cradle etc. but great functionality + discreet install.

I dont have it in the centre armrest, and it was a factory option as I have the original invoice

unless someone retro fitted the FBSW, but surely not !?!

I am thinking of getting this as i dont have any phone capability, its not for work or anything, just if i am out and about. no unsightly wires etc, had a parrot hard wired in my scooby. wasnt to bad, my car was really loud so its not so much a problem in the RS4.
