B7 RS4 new iphone wont charge

gone from a 1st gen iphone which worked fine to a new 3Gs which wont charge in the glovebox dock. it seems from checking around that the charge pinouts on the 3g's have changed, anyone have a solution for this yet ?

No it doesn't work. I heard a rumour that the latest Ipod dock from Audi does charge the Iphone 3Gs. But one solution would be to remove the Audi one and fit the Dension gateway 100 with CAN bus, this will show your playlists/artists/albums/track names in the DIS and allow easy browsing of the Ipod.

Apple removed one of the possible set of charging connections on the newer iPods and the iPhone.

"Apple started transitioning their charging from Firewire to USB charging. They told their "Made for iPod" members this a while back, at least 2 maybe 3 years...

And now, as Apple kept telling the developers, they've removed the Firewire charging ability, presumably to take one less part out of an already tiny product."

thx guys, the whole apple charge compatibility thing is getting to be a pain, mrs has a 4th gen ipod which she now cant charge or connect to her bimmer headunit.
i will look into the dension 100 or the 300 as it has usb hard drive ability as the 2gb non sdc cards are getting harder to find and fiddly to keep updating.

I brought an adapter from itunes which converts the pin outs round, i now have it for sale if your interested, it should plug into the dash adapter, and then fit the iphone on top but I can't say for definite as I had a wire in my glovebox, let me know if your interested and I'll get some pics, as I can't seem to find it on the itunes store any more,
