Brake Pad Dilemma
Brake Pad Dilemma
I've been searching google high and low and various forums as my current pads are worn.
I'm looking to do a few track days and would like some uprated pads not ebc to tie me over.
I've looked at mintex, ferodo and pagid but none of them seem to do b6 s4 pads?

Hi,
You can get Pagid from www.eurocarparts.com. I've just got some front disks from there. Why aren't you looking at EBC pads?
I've just fitted EBC red stuff all around.
Regards, Chris.

Are you sure that pagid do pads for the B6 S4? When a search is performed it say pads are avaialable but the year is wrong, 2001-2004, which is applicable for the B5. The B6 front brakes are different from the B5.nihc wrote:Hi,

If you look at the following link you should see pads for 2001-2004 and 2004-2006 ( they're the same part number, anyway), but certainly for the S4 4.2 V8.
BTW, have you thought about EBC yellow stuff pads if you are doing track days and road use?

i've just heard alot of bad things about ebc pads in the past and i've used the ferodo ds2500 pads and mintex 1144's in the past with great results.
I just don't understand why it's so difficult to gets the pads I really crave. mine are down to the wear indicators now and when breaking from a swift speed last night then were fading on me really bad.

I used EBC `red stuff` pads on an Impeza in the past with impressive reults.
I used them again recently on a BMW 330 and they over heated the discs !! so had to buy new discs for the next owner
So won`t be using them again on the S4. Ferodo is the one to have by all accounts.

Hi,
There seems to be loads of differing views about the EBC red stuff pads. I think it stems from pre-ceramic compound times. Red stuff pads are now made from a kevlar/ceramic compound which is light years ahead of the old ones.
BigAustin - if they over heated your disk, surely it means they were braking harder then others
I'm just bedding in a full set of red stuff pads at the mo', so I'll report back soon.
Regards, Chris.

could be to do with weight, Impreza weighed about 1100kg , Beemer more like 1500kg.
I had the Impreza for five years, the beemer only two.
I think the S4 is running standard pads, and am quite happy with the performance of them.
