And yes, he's on studded M&S tyres almost certainly - everyone is once you get outside the big cities - make a huge difference.

I have for the winter under my RS6 225/40R18 Nokian Hakkapeliitta 5 studded tyres. The only problem is, that they are wobbly on dry asfalt and have a Q-speed rating...
But when the snow & ice come to play - there is no better way to "fly" =) Already had to try that kind of driving on my way to work the other day, when we got here in Stockholm the first snow. It is quite a feeling to go a bit sideways for several hundreds of meters... (have still my summer tyres on)
They are a bit too wide though - I can get the car on the snow pretty easily, not plowing though it. When compared to my old trusty V6-Passat with torsen and 195/55R16 Hakkapeliitta 5 tyres, which at comparable speeds and situations felt completely planted. And "snowplaning" can be quite worrysome when overtaking.
But still, can't wait for the real winter to come again!
