Engine Misfire........Help ??
Hi
on the early morning travel to work my car (2006) has developed a misfire at around 3000 rpm, this has only just started to happen and seems to be when the engine is running higher revs at startup (choke ?). It runs smoothly up till around 3000rpm when it starts to misfire. The misfire dissapears as the engine warms up (choke off ??) My travel to work is only approximately 2 miles
Does anybody have any suggestions as to what may be causing this, or should I get it into Audi to go on the computer ?

I am sure you are aware of this but this car is traditionally a bit grumpy when its cold. Mine gets a little worse in the winter but I am still not sure why as a 50k car should run perfectly all the time IMO regardless if its a V8 or not.... however lets call it " character"
If its now doing this when it hadn't in the past then it could well be an issue with plugs or a host of other things. I am sure some one will pop up and list all the options to consider but my suggestion is quite simply what you have already thought, whack it on diagnostics check and it will or should show as as fault. Let us know how you get on as always interested in Audi's response to these sort of things. Good luck

If your commute is also short it may well be that a good run out will solve issues, clears the tubes don't you know. The wife's A2 was subject to very short (sometimes only 2-3 minutes at a time) journeys which did not allow the car to warm up. It did have huge hesitation with you depressed the accelerator and almost felt restricted. Struggled to do 80mph in it the first time I used it for my daily commute but since I have been using it for the last couple of weeks 2-3 days per week on dual carriageways, even the wife has noticed it is more responsive. She thought I had put super unleaded in it! 

The car is "grumpy" because its internals are covered in s**t. This is the downside of FSI.
There are a number of threads on mis-firing engines especially in the US community.
I've recently seen an AoA R8 service bulletin dealing with the issue.
My guess especially bearing in mind the car is used for 2 mile trips: Deposits.
If you remember how fast Caldy's engine appeared to coke up doesn't surprise me...

Has your care had an ecu update? As it's an 06 it could be on sw0080 or older - 0090 was brought in to cure cold running issues.
Faulty inlet flaps could be another reason but without a proper diagnostic it's like looking for a needle in a haystack - where are you in the country? A vagcom scan will tell a lot.
One things for sure, you need to take the scenic route to work as regular runs of 2 miles clogs the plugs as much as anything else.

I live in Teesside & I've got a bloke who does all the work on my RS, he used to work for Teesside Audi but decided to set up as an independent; really knows his stuff.
I think he charges about £20-£30 for a diagnostic.

I've got a similar problem that has just recently started happening (07 with 27k), I mentioned it to the dealer when it was serviced last week and they said the plugs had been coked up and they had replaced them, but I'm still getting the same problem even now. It's due back in on Saturday to have 2 shocks replaced (DRC) and for them to try again on the misfire. I got upgraded to 0090 last year so shouldn't be that
