Post by yass » Sat Oct 03, 2009 12:14 am

Hi all

Can anyone guide me as to whome i may need to see to get freeview or sky installed to my RS4. It already has normal Tv, and a roundabout cost factor??

Thanks

Yass

Forget the sky, unless you want to mount a dish on your roof? and then you would have to be stationary to receive it.
You can get a digital tuner sorted via craigb on this forum.

agreed regarding Sky comment above! Freeview is really expensive to upgrade to in-car, dont know why but its a total rip-off, think its around £1000.

Did the recent Freeview frequency change effect any of the RS4 TV tuners?

But it's a simple matter to swap the analog only tuner for an Audi hybrid (digital/analog) one (which several RS4 owners have done) - it's pin compatible (but you need to change the connector shells to smaller ones to fit) and 100% software compatible with the RNS-E sat nav in the RS4.

Does anyone know roughly how much it costs for the Audi hybrid tuner? Is it DIY-able?

Thanks for that. Looks like you can buy the kit on eBay for around £400 so I'm probably going to have a go. I've seen a couple of websites that charge well over £1000 for the parts and fitting so it's got to be worth it!

Either that or I'm missing something and they're not really making a huge profit if fitting is as easy as it looks from the above link!

That was on an RS6 - So not sure even if you would need to make the changes like above.

Have a look on here http://audiforum.us/rns-e/ best website for that sort of answer.

Spotted this one - Silly money! ££££. Just wait till you go home- or drive to nearest hotel and book a room and watch tv before carrying on your journey - be cheaper
