Is this normal.

Post by ecain63 » Thu Sep 17, 2009 9:02 pm

When i leave the car for afew days (sunday to thursday) without driving it this happens.

1. I miss her terribly and cry into my beer! lol

2. When i do get in and take her off down the dual carriagway i get wheel wobble.

It feels like one of the wheels isnt balanced properly. I only get it for 1/2 mile or so (usually by the time ive cruised from 40 up to about 70 mph), then it fades and goes away not to be seen again. The wheels were rebalanced only a month or so ago so there are no issues there. I have noticed it in the past but by the time i have got back home it has gone and i have forgotten about it. If i drive the car more regularly i.e over the weekend then i dont have this problem at all.

Today my memory is omproved so here you are.

Is it that the tyres have become mis-shapen due to them being un used for 5 days (wierd i know, but seems the only sensible reason)? It doesnt happen when the car is used more often so im guessing they dont go out of shape overnight.

Or is there something more sinister going on?

All cv joints and boots are ok and the suspension is A1 so what the hell is going on. Tyres are standard fit P Zero Rossos 255 / 35 / 19 and in good order.

N°1 - I get this, and I've never, ever had this with any other car before. Weird. Any excuse to take it out is good enough.

N°2 - I had this. I had the tracking done and it was perfect afterwards. If tracking and balancing doesn't help, it'll be buckled alloys, probably. Try putting the fronts on the rear to see?

OOps. I just read your post properly. It does sound like deformed tyres, weird though that might be. Are they old?

Sounds like flat spots in the tyres - should go after a bit of driving. Can be cured to a degree by overinflating you tyres before storing the car, and then re- adjusting when you drive it. Or at least that's what I find...
