Is this a £1650 repair?

Quote from Audi for this little scrape - £1650. Is this as OTT as it seems?
Any suggestions for a good alternative bodyshop - London area

I own a bodyshop is wiltshire so i have some knowledge of this type of repair and it seems from the photo like a very excessive price for repair, it looks like both damaged parts would repair and should be more like £500 ish at a guess, what is the breakdown of costs?
p.s looks the same as my car, phantom black saloon?

looks excessive for me, that will surely be the price of new body parts rather than a touch up repair?

The quote lists a lot of items that are not relevant to that area. Is there any other damage on the carthatthey have also included for?

I can't tell from the photo, but they are listing items on the rear door to be changed - is there any damage above the sill? Looks from the quote like they are repairing the rear door as well.....

yes there's a nick on the edge of the door about half way up - can just make it out in white.

It is a difficult area to repair. I have a nick out of the same mouding and the repair is obvious and to do it properly would mean new parts unless you have a repairer who is particulalrly good and filling and profiling althought this is inherently weaker that an intact undamaged part. Hence why Audi have taken the route of replacing all parts as new as part of their policy.

An independent body shop would do the filler / profiling cheaper if that is what you are after however if that white line on the top part of the moulding is a crack rather than a deep scratch in the picture I would be inclined to have that part replaced.

But that is just me.

Thanks P G, yes it's definitely a moulding replacement job I think, I'm after a thorough job just not at that price

That sounds right for that amount of work, infant seems cheap! It seems they are not cutting corners, which is a good thing I suppose. If You want cheaper, then you will have to go to a body shop and get it filled.

I have had some work done in the same area as this (albeit under warranty). It is a tricky job by all accounts, interior trim galore has to come off and it took the best part of a week all in. Does seem like a fair quote tbh...

Right well after some ringing round I've found an Audi authorised repairer who won't invalidate any warranties, approached direct and halved the price, quartered the time to do it and they're just round the corner. I'm so excited I'll probably prang it on the way over.
