No Turbos
I think the TCU has to be opened and soldered
Perhaps someone who has had it done can confirm or deny.

hmmmm sounds a bit too invasive. I had a remap done on a BMW 325 years ago which involved replacing the EPROM in the ECU. Sods law, the ECU failed a year later and left me in limp mode. Had to take to the nearest BMW garage. They replaced the ECU as it was actually a faulty coil which caused the problem. They sent the original ECU off back to Bosch in case they wanted to anayse it. Was crapping myself for months thinking they would come back to me and get me to cough up as it had been modified!!!!
Just programmed the ECU back to original. Has cleared the fault codes. Not driven car yet but will see if the turbos cut in on the way home and see what fault codes are recorded when I get home. Im sure the engine mount one will be back but it will be interesting to see if the other reappears. If not then maybe it is something to do with the map. Will have to get on to CelticTuning and see what they say. Maybe its not been reported before!
As a side, now that the standard map is back. Ive booked the car into Southampton Audi for the suspension to be 'looked at' as I think its starting to sound and act a bit too dodgy now!!!! I was going to go for Camberley Audi, but Southampton Audi is only 3 miles from me and as noone seems to have used them or have anything bad to say I may as well give them a go - what could possibly go wrong!!!!!

Just for completion of this thread.
I reflashed the original map back in and all is fine. No engine lights. No faults, apart from the engine mount, which incidentally Audi didnt mention when it went in recently even though I told them the engine light had been on. Presumably the engine mount fault IS a recognised Audi fault and not just a generic one which has no relevance on an RS6?????
Anyway, the original problem DOES seem related to the new map and the engine going into a non-turbo mode with the fault relating to gearbox/engine communication or maybe it is due to the engine mount fault and just tipping it over the tolerance because of the extra hp the remap provides. either way its the map. I will post my findings to Celtic Tuning for them to investigate! thanks for all your help.

Sounds like it could be a checksum error. Could just be a bad flash.
Audi won't generally hook up your car unless you specifically ask them to or if it's to diagnose a problem. If your car has an Audi warranty, they were probably afraid of what they were going to find!

I reflashed back to original which cleared all the fault codes. I took the car for a spin and checked the codes again. P0610 Engine Mount was back!!! When I took it to Audi I told them engine light had come on, just so they would check the Fault codes. The guy told me that they hadnt found any fault relating to the engine light. Surely it would have told them about the stored fault as this is a generic OBD-II fault. There is no warranty. Weird!!
the engine mount code won't bring on the engine light. it just sits dormant while skimming the power from your engine.
The best thing you can do is take it to a good independant and get it changed. i think its 80 quid plus fitting. That will solve the problem.

I had a similar fault about a year ago and the local Audi dealer decided to bypass the sensor (by stuffing in a resistor) instead of fixing it. It only came to light when I had Grizz do the my KWs. I have used Unit 20 exclusively ever since.

THis is quite a common fix, I believe. WEll, not a bare resistor, but there's a special cable you can buy to fool the ECU that all is good, but I can't find it online.el_ringo wrote:I had a similar fault about a year ago and the local Audi dealer decided to bypass the sensor (by stuffing in a resistor) instead of fixing it.
THe engine mount is a common failure, but it tends to be the electronics that fail, rather than the electronics, hence the quick fix.
