RE: delimitedrs6 avant
i'll find out in Sept in Germany

200mph is good but 174 is awful, im looking to buy one of these to add to the fleet and im not going to go to mad with mods as i want the car to be reliable as im going to use it to run back and forth from london to bulgaria and the rs4 cab does not have enough space, one baby seat in the back and its full, im also hoping that i can get atleast 190mph with a remap, GRIZZ you must know what a mapped rs6 is capable of..
answer your question in a nut shell i do all of my driving abroad mainly germany, the rs4 b7 cab is currently my slowest car and i dont really want to go backwards with speed and i need a bigger car that can sit comfortably at 160-170 and do a odd spurt of 190mph for a couple of miles or so and sometimes we do race for the odd bag of cash now and then hope that helps... when i say 174 awful it is for a 4.2 bi-turbo considering ive got an old e34 that does 196mph... surely you're not going to be travelling at upwards of 150mph for any length of time? So unless its for a competition or something, why do you need a car that does at least 190mph ?!
fair enuf, but still sounds crazy to me ! Whats the MPG sitting at 160-170 ! crazym5killer wrote:answer your question in a nut shell i do all of my driving abroad mainly germany, the rs4 b7 cab is currently my slowest car and i dont really want to go backwards with speed and i need a bigger car that can sit comfortably at 160-170 and do a odd spurt of 190mph for a couple of miles or so and sometimes we do race for the odd bag of cash now and then hope that helps... when i say 174 awful it is for a 4.2 bi-turbo considering ive got an old e34 that does 196mph... I read a report recently I think from GmbH that during testing in 2000/2001 prior to the launch of the car in 2002 that they frequently clocked in excess of 190 mph in unrestricted cars.
As for needing that sort of speed for racing, where do you need that sort of speed other than somewhere like the Le Mans 24 hours down the Mulsanne straight ? Even somewhere like the Nurburgring, other than the last straight back to the entrance/exit you cannot reach those sort of speeds.
Other than on a d-restricted autobahn in Germany anywhere else in Europe if you got caught at those sort of speeds you are looking at loss of your driving licence &/or huge fines &/or imprisonment &/or your car being crushed.
Unfortunately I got caught in France a couple of years ago by an unmarked police car at 179 kmh and got away with a 90 Euro fine but it should have been 300 Euros................I was very polite to the gendarme ! However, if that had 1 kmh more at 180 kmh today, then the penalties are much more severe as France changed their fining system earlier this year. This would now be a 1,500 Euro fine (and if you were French there would also be a 3 year licence suspension).
A friend of mine was stopped by German police last year on a d-restricted autobahn doing 135 mph (I was behind doing 120 mph) and was fined 500 euros for "alleged" dangerous speeding even though he wasn't breaking the speed limit as there wasn't one....seems that the foreign police particularly target us Brits in our apparent flash cars and when they are standing there in their uniforms with guns you tend not to argue !

yes i know but when you have the roads to make your journey quicker it helps, will let you know what the mpg at that speed is very soondavidkoulakis wrote:fair enuf, but still sounds crazy to me ! Seems a bit silly to be driving regularly at those speeds. You may be a 'very good driver', but there is a common sense element that should be recognised here. Not to piss on your bonfire or start a bun-fight, but I don't think this forum is the right place to be advertising or boasting about your way above normal driving speed.
The forum members who have recorded the 180mph + speeds on here have done so as a test of thier machines, not as a regular commute. I don't know of anyone who would feel comfortable at those speeds for a prolonged period of time knowing that the tyres are pushing the limits of thier capability. They may be Y+ rated, but im fairly sure that they didnt mean constant use.
