RS4 v TTS Purchase dilema..........

Post by dibbs26 » Wed Jul 22, 2009 1:09 pm

Hi Guys,
First post so please go easy on me.
I presently own an A4 B7 2.0T S-Line 2005 and its coming up to the time when I feel I need a change, probably towards the end of the year.
I've always liked the look of the TTS but lately I'm being swayed by a few friends towards an RS4.
The thing in my mind is that I feel I've now had enough of the A4 and am I doing the wrong thing going for pretty much a similar model again as in interior & body shape etc.
I am a member of another forum, Tyresmoke, and have been for a number of years but thought this would be the place to join if considering an RS.
Anyway thanks guys and I look forward, hopefully, to some replies.
:D

Try driving an RS4 - the driving experience is so different from a B7 A4 that I reckon the similarity of the interior etc will become less of an issue for you.

IMHO the TTS is OK, but it won't give you the same performance, handling, space, etc. that an RS4 will give.

Hi and hope to welcome you soon, try and get an RS4 for the day, i know what you're saying about owning an A4 now but we're talking chalk and cheese, come back when you've driven one and let's hear what you have to say.
I guess you won't want to wait till the end of the year to get into one !!!

TTS? TT RS?

Surely a TT RS will give you the same performance, coming in at 0-60 in 4.6 seconds and around the track it ain't going to be far off.

The handling on track of the new TT RS is meant to be a big let down.

I'd go for an RS4 everyday over a standard TT, it's in a different league.

Don't forget the flared arches and lower stance differentiate it from "ordinary" A4s and S4s.

even a biker on the opposing carriageway looked and nodded at me (hopefully with approval) this morning... dont get that in a commona garden B7 do ya?

remapped TTRS hmmmm....nah RS4 all day.... with the right colour combo can very much stand out from a std B7.

Love my B7 RS - understated unless you are in the know - or want to be heard and blip the throttle

go for the RS...its got everything the TTS has and so much more i.e. exclusivity, space, resale, respect, power, V8 sound

Also, the RS imho does look strikingly diff to a standard B7, albeit to those in the know; but you just cant beat flared arches and those two huge exhausts, also if you get the buckets and FBSW, it WILL feel very diff inside

Depends what you are after really, these cars are completely different.

One is small and nippy but fairly impractical (TTS), the other is very practical and much faster / cooler / more exclusive.

If you prefer the TT size then look at the TTRS. I had a look at one in Preston Audi when my car was recently in, apart from the 5 spoke alloys not looking that nice (reckon RS4 rims would suit it better), it looked awesome inside and outside.

I had a crack against the TTS coupe in my mk4 stock R32 just before I got my RS4, it wasnt any quicker and the other guy was really trying to get past me. If he was in an RS4, I know I would have got spanked!

you definitely need to test drive both cars then decide
