Its bye bye from me!

Post by Marcus-RS4 » Sat May 16, 2009 7:45 pm

Its a very sad day today...

Last night I was pulled by police, I had had 2 pints (that really is all!) and I blew a 41mg when breathalised... (max is 35).

Just goes to show, there really is no 'safe' number of pints apart from none. I feel such a <beep>!

Court is in 10 days time, going to make the most of it while I can... Its a 12 monther, for sure... then, how much will insurance be on it!?

Has anyone got any tips for me? I havent ever been in trouble with the law before and this is kind of scary! :(

It was at the station, the roadside one only says Pass or Fail..

After doing some digging, the only chance I have is if they screwed up the procedure some how (unlikely)

Bit harsh Quattrokid1, he had 2 pints no need to be like that not like he had a skin full a mowed down some innocent family!!

Marcus, Mate I'm gutted for you! :( As Andy says get a good lawyer and obviously make sure you get some sort of letter from your employee stating that your job would be in jepody if you couldn't drive. you may get lucky mate.

wish you all the best with it.

On a previous post quattrokid went all hardcore when someone accidently drove over the speed limit after a recent speed limit change with poor sign posting! A genuine mistake... I don't advocate drink driving but 2pints Is unlucky ...

you will get a 12 month ban with the choice to do a drink driving awareness course which will knock off 3 months on the ban so 9 months . i was banned when i was just over the limit in the morning 6 years ago. i had a S3 before my b5 rs4 which was`nt too bad for insurance but when i first got my rs4 with 3 years no claims and a DR10 my insurance was £3500 for the year but dropped by half that the next year . if you get a lawyer you might be LUCKY and just get a 6 month ban . as it was only 41 you wont get more then a 12 month ban . good luck mate

Gutted for you, but no sympathy. I got done 13 years ago, and learnt my lesson - lost my job etc from it. It is a definate ban I'm afraid.

Have never done it since - 1 pint is my driving limit.

All the best for the future

Sorry to hear the news m8, as people have said before get a lawyer, and best of luck. I am a firm believer in not drinking at all now when I drive, its just too hard to know if you under the limit with the strength of beers/lagers, I think the drink drive laws need making more clear in this country, if it was you cant drink and drive at all, you would have been ok, cos you wouldnt have had any! Best of luck

would your previous driving history not count for something - say of you been driving for 10 yrs without any penalties? bad luck mate, hope it gets sorted. we all do silly things sometimes.

Sorry to hear that fella, and I'm not going to chastise you nor advocate drink driving (I can't) as I've been known to have the very very occasional single pint after work, however it's a reminder to us all that the old 2 pint 'threshold' doesnt hold true in all cases.

Get a brief and see if they can minimise your ban (which you will get). Sorry, but I can't really help more than.

I do realise it was a stupid thing to do.. no one cant beat me up any more than I am already doing to myself :(

Clean licence, no other convictions, ever, for anything.. not sure if it will help? and I agree, if people were 'let off' then there would be no point in the law!

Cheers for the comments / well wishes guys... these are pretty low times :(
