If it's just the key fob, you can code it with VAGCOM to make it work with your car easily enough.
If you need the key to work with your immbolizer (ie. start the car), then you need a new key. I believe they can only be coded once. Also you can't do this with the VAGCOM unless you've got the secret code for you car.
