Big bro V10 RS's are definately a problem! M5s and SL55AMGs (the merc less so) are a no no! In a straight line once moving anyway!Anything over 600cc with two wheels.

Morgan Aero 8 (the bug eyed one) Fugetaboudit! (in Donnie Brasco accent! )

335i tourings (with dog in the back - yes really! Chipped perhaps?) are pretty nippy too.

Personal experiences only :beerchug:

i like others have only really had petrol heads talk and praise the motor. had a lot more grief off saxo, astra, clio boys in my e46 m3 have not had that in the rs. psg001 had a run with new m3 coupe last sunday, down the a127 to southend [dual carriageway] i pulled up behind him doing about 65 the car in front of him pulled over he nailed it caught me napping for a second i floored it stayed equal distance from his jacks then he broke hard as he caught up a motor doing around 55 when that mondeo pulled over i was well ready he nailed it again and i followed slightly easing off the gas he pulled over and near on side by side for around a quarter mile until we had traffic approaching. the moral of the story dont believe what you see on you tube

Yip - have 2nd fastest car in my work car park and love it - best decision I made to buy it. Was only in for an S3 but clocked the RS4 and fell for it. Going to keep it as long as I can keep it in brake pads !

A fair few things could.

As great a car as the RS4 is there are cheaper, so called inferior cars that can hold their own on an in- gear run. They just don't score so well across all the other factors eg. Build, looks, image, class etc

Was driving near Colnbrook and some lad waiting to pull out of a petrol station clocked the motor and he was waving wildly. He looked like he was going to jizz in his pants lol.

It's mainly young lads that know what these cars are and it's thanks to the likes of Clarkson and TG for bringing the RS to their attention.

I think they are stealth and look the part some would argue the other way that they look a little too bland but I don't think it's a bad thing at all.

Neighbour blew me away in his Porsche 911 Turbo last summer so I joined the club and bought one with x pack upgrade and a few DMS tweaks now putting out 550 bhp. Needless to say its not a car for the missus so I let her poodle around in the RS4 cabriolet. Whilst the RS4 is the more accomplished and relaxing fast drive, for out and out performance, pure fun and guts in the back set adrenalin the porsche is frighteningly quick

I've only had the RS4 for a few days now but notice the different reaction to this than the Exige. Both cars were equally fast with the Exige shading it off the line but in-gear the RS4 wins. I think the main difference is the Exige is built to look like a fast car which makes other drivers (especially the Evo, Scooby and the Clio/Corsa chavs all want o have a go). With the RS4 this is not the case so they are no so keen to see how they match up probably due to the fact that it's not trying too hard i.e. the stealth factor.

There are undoubtedly faster cars on the road but at one end who wants to be seen in an Evo? (although must admit the Evo X looks not too bad) and are more affordable but don't have the class. At the other end you've got the top end 911's which have the class but traditionally cost more to purchase although the current market depreciation has closed that gap a little. I went through the whole performance vs value debate which is why I bought the Lotus however the whole build quality/practicality was an issue. Then I went through the whole 911/R8 debate but couldn't justify the spend which is why I bought the RS4 which IMHO offers the best balance all round on price, performance, practicality and class. Oh, just remembered the other class which is the 2-Eleven, Atom, X-Bow and Caterham brigade which are great cars if you don't mind freezing your bollocks off in the cold weather.

Still getting to know the RS4 but as each day goes by it just gets better and better.

It'd need to be a good one otherwise you just might well have the quickest car in the car park! :D :D

Just had my car washed this morning and when the guy fired up the RS4 after it's jet wash there were a bunch of guys standing behind who all jumped back shouting "WHOOOO!" "What engine is that mate" etc....

Still alot of people have no idea as it just looks like a beefy A4. Fine by me. When I had my 911 Turbo it attracted a fair bit of attention some of which I didn't like. When I had a Caterham I always had kids waving and pointing at me. Same with my TVR.

RS4 is great for keeping it low profile.

Most people don't seem to bother, however you will occasionally see in the rear view mirror people in the car behind you saying RS4, mostly blokes like and then pointing to the exhausts.

Last weekend was funny, had some lads in an A4 S-Line Quatttro 220ps Spec. Ed on the inside lane on the dual carriageway who I passed, sped up to catch me up and then they all wound their windows down so they could hear the car; rude not to give it some beans at that point.

Amazing the number of people who know it is an RS at the petrol station but not what engine is in it. And they always comments on the size of the fronty brake disks when it is stationary.

Unfortunately the local chavs do like to have a go but TBH anyone can drive fast in a stright line so I let them go for it and don't respond. But it gets interesteing when the twisties come about!

I was at a company conference in Vegas a few weeks ago and my boss mentioned in his presentation that I had an RS4. Much respect from my American counterparts for the rest of the conference.......

I still recall the early days of ownership (mines an 06 Avant) when I couldnt fill up with petrol without somebody asking me about the car, taking pics, asking for a free spirited rev.

.........And thats one of the reasons Ive still got one.................
Everyone is unique, just like you and me.
