Immobilise...
Immobilise...
Have to leave the car in an Airport Car Park for a week ( a conventional car park where I park the car and take the keys with me ).
What do others do - is there something worth 'disconnecting' ( that is not too obvious ) to add to the difficulty in starting the motor should a tea leaf take a shine to it ?
I'll be taking my Disklok as well....
Feel free to PM me if you prefer.
TIA
Rick.

Disklok is a very good deterent and should be enough to put people off.
You could pop fuse box cover off and remove fuel pump fuse or ECU fuse or even better but a duff fuse in their place, call me devious..

i usually pull the connector off the throttle body, just enough so it is disconnected but still slid on to the socket, you have to pop off the front engine cover but it is only 2 screws, i dont think anyone would find it loose as it looks ok, plus you cant se it without removing the cover.

We fit a hidden switch that disables the k line to the ecu so an immobilser defeat box used by criminals does not work and it disables fuel pump(and or other things) You want a visual deterrant first. When the deimmo box they use does not work they usually don't spend the time trying to work out why.

RE: Immobilise...
how do you think thieves steal new cars with ecu immobilisers?
Just plug in a box and then they can use a screwdriver to start the car.

Then your car is sitting outside your empty house for the duration of your holiday, putting both the car and the contents of your home at risk.mbelle wrote:Get a lift
Thanks for the suggestions guys - some good options there. I'll probably go for a combination of options. I'm picking my friends up for the holiday, so that's not an option. Then again, would I trust them..
Too late now to investigate Doug's hidden switch option, however will add that to the list for the next MRC visit !
