Milltek exhaust to be fitted, Resonated or non-resonated?
So i'm just about to order a Milltek exhaust for my Rs4. But i have a small problem; i don't know wether to get the resonated or non-resonated version.
From what i understand the resonated is the more quiet version, but since i have never heard it i can't tell. The non-resonated version sounds lovely but i'm afraid that it's going to be hard living with it every day. Can those who have it on theirs please comment on this?
Does anyone have a picture on their car (not from milltek homepage) with the satin sheen endpipes?
BTW; is there a huge difference with the S-button pressed or is it like the OEM?
EDIT: Forgot to mention that i referred to the valved on!

RE: Milltek exhaust to be fitted, Resonated or non-resonated
i fitted a non res- valved milltek and i had similar concerns that it may be too loud but i can happily confirm it sounds great and definately not too loud, however, it's nice to have the valves (especially when transporing the mother inlaw).
with S button pressed sounds great but not too loud (but will turn heads)
without S button it sounds good and not too much louder than standard with S pressed.

RE: Milltek exhaust to be fitted, Resonated or non-resonated
Ummm, it's a tricky one this and one that I tusseled with for weeks. Like you I hadn't heard a resonated version. In the end I plumped for a non res cat back with valves. I use may car daily so needed the option of it being a bit quieter, as sometimes you just want a bit of peace. After 6 months I am still in love with my Milltek, however, occasionally it would be nice to turn it down a bit, if you know what I mean. So on reflection whilst it is not so much fun, I would retrospectively go for a resonated with valves if you do a lot of miles, especially at slower speeds as they can drone a bit at 2000rpm. Just my view mate!

I AGREE, so your not far off !chemical-ali wrote:Non resonated, non valved. Don't piss around. Otherwise, keep the stock and switch the valves open.
Just my opinion. And therefore 100% right!
If your motivation is better sound, go for the Non Res - no question; yes there may be sometimes when you want some peace, but by definition, by owning an RS4 surely your a petrol head at heart and thus want the noise ! or is that just me ?

Considering the valved version is another £1000 or so and that 95% of the time you will have the valves open......
Now you've done it find a long tunnel, wind your window down, drop a gear and stick you head out for one of the best automotive sound tracks available.
F***ing excellent!!!

Good decision well presented! I had a non res valved system fitted last week and OMG it sounds fantastic!SwedishRS4 wrote:Well I have another car that can scream small children and old ladies to death......chemical-ali wrote:Non resonated, non valved. Glad I went for the valved as calms things down with the family in the car! Have fun with it and as the man says - find a tunnel!

I have the Milltek Valved non res, not any problems so far, great sound, very mature, HOWEVER i'm thinking of selling as I have gone of the look of it, as I prefare the OEM one, as i don't like the fact that you can still see the inside exhaust ports, I'm thinking of spraying these black (trial and error) so see how it goes, will keep you updated.
Money can't buy you love, but it can buy you a well sorted racecar
