Did my oil change, thought might as well do splitter

Post by Russboy » Thu Jan 15, 2009 6:51 pm

So whilst waiting for the right oil filter to be delivered, and after having had to fit a new headlight washer motor, I came onto here and saw "Virdee Autos" had fitted a splitter to his RS4 so remembering I had 2 in my shed (Leon Cupra R splitters), I thought what the hell, might as well use the time up whilst its in the air.

Took about 20 mins to do, looks better in the flesh as I went to get petrol and looked out on the forecourt and it looks fairly mean, actually looks like its got the right hump!!

What do you think?

I know it needs a good wash, I left my mates pub yesterday and he has a large, muddy car park, was rude not to give it a little!

Seem to remember they were an ebay job, not sure on the xenon front to be honest as I never really drive at night so they are rarely used!!

Liking the splitter. I had one on mine before I changed my front end for an RS4 look, I thought it finished off the front end nicely, and it was cheap which is always a bonus! Sold my bumper to Tim at Redline magazine to go on his A4 avatn if anyone reads it, said there'd be pics in the mag.

Saw this post, then read Virdee Autos and A20 LEE posts on the RS4 Forum - then popped down to my local SEAT dealer and purchsed one. He had plenty in Stock, cost £21-59 inc VAT. Part No. 1ML805903

Must say it took me much longer than 20 mins including jacking-up the car etc. You need to trim down the 2 "verticals" in the centre section and cut down the ends at the wheelarch. I also had to use a bit of heat to mould the splitter to fit the contours of the bumper better to not leave any gaps.

Very pleased with the results and so glad you posted about it. The Cupra R splitter is very popular as it looks great, it seems on anything without painting and is relatively easy to fit or can be made to fit.

Whoever thought of using this splitter in the first place is a top-man and the power of the Forums makes it easy for the rest of us!

Let me get this right.

You go to 'Seat', buy the splitter, jack the car up and stick it to the bottom of the bumper?

Simple as that?

Sort of, you have to cut down the 2 middle supports so they are level with the rest of the spoiler, line it up & tape it to the bumper & then I just used self tappers to hold it in place
