Drivers Side Door Mirror

Post by RS4MAD » Tue Jan 06, 2009 9:01 pm

Hi All

Anyone know where I can get one of these from that won't break the bank! Some burk hit mine today and drove off - polite! :x

Anyone got any ideas how much I might be looking at?

Cheers Rich

140 squid + VAT from Audi - Total rip off for a plastic cover, thats painted.

At least the mirrors on my 8P S3 were actually alloy

It just doesn't make sense alloy on a £26k car, and plastic 'alloy' lookalike on a £50k motor

How easy are the mirror surrounds to take off? Would you need to take off from the inside of the door by removing some trim?

They come off fairly easily - Pull the small triangular trim off the inside of the door - there are two screws underneath. Prise the mirroe glass off gently, which reveals two or three screws that hold the assembly onto the casing, remove these and the motor assembly, unplug theelectrics. This then reveals two screws that hold the retainer on - easy as that

Hi,
got a mirror from a salvage yard today £185 (bargain), does the inside triangular piece need to be pulled from a particular side and do I need a screw driver to prise it off ?

thanks Rich. :?

I think it's £140 for just the cover (backing), whereas he got a complete mirror for £185.....or at least I hope!

Just use a very small screwdriver, or you might be able to lever it with your fingers

Sounds about right - replacing two nicked mirrors on my S4 was over £1200!

Thankfully it was a company car...

Exactley the same problem happened to me. Searched high and low to see if anyone sold the mirrors on the web but to no avail.

Was quoted £474 incl VAT fitted and colour coded by Audi.

Ended up paying £260 inclusive of VAT and fitting in the end as was able to use the original electrics/heater, so only needed shell and mirror.

Good luck
