Think we need a better way of recording DRC issues...

Post by Dom81 » Thu May 22, 2008 10:05 am

The Poll was a great start, and has highlighted that there's a serious problem that Audi are (apparently) flatly denying. Problem is that votes can't be changed, and a bit more detail might help the cause...

I don't want to start another thread if people think there's no merit, but I suggest a cut & paste list (bit like the RS246Live nomination one) where you put name, model, mileage, garage, month and shocks replaced. Bit like -

Dom81 - Avant - 7,500 - Camberley - May 08 - Fronts

It would help if people who are fine could say so (so that we recored a %) but if problems arise they could just edit the list

Audi appear to have rejected the poll as it's on a non-Audi site, so I believe we need to give them some undeniable evidence

Thoughts??

Yes, I am more than happy to contribute. How about a DRC meet in central England where all those effected by DRC physically sign a declaration. Surely Audi could not reject that. Maybe even meet at a dealers and ask their DP to witness it. That would be good.

What we need to do is all write at the same time to Jeremy Hicks at Audi. and if possible enclosed with the letter of complaint put in a copy of the job sheet from the dealer who has carried out the work. Clearly showing that you car has had shocks replaced under warranty etc.

This is exactly what I suggested in the poll post and the follow up post asking yes voters to read. I even drafted the letter. You cant make it any easier for people than cutting and pasting, altering, printing off and sending.
Audi cannot ignore the poll povided EVERYONE WHO VOTED YES follows it through.
As I said before, if they ignore it then at the very least it is documented, if we do nothing, well  a big fat zero response is what we will get.
You can bet your bottom dollar that if in 6 months time we start getting posts like "Audi offered me an extension to my warranty as compensation and peace of mind" there will be some interest.
Its simple - send the letter, a letter any frickin letter, run the poll off and see what happens. Its a start. :)
Sorry to go on but you can talk about something for ever and a day. There is absolutley no harm in doing what I suggetsed in the posts and then sending further documentation off. :)

I sent a letter (albeit a shorter one) but judging by the early replies, we're going to need more ammunition

Jeremy Hicks is who we need to write too, I know that much! when the poll was done I think there were a few people myself included who hadn't had any DRC problems however things have changed for me and I'm sure others. I will be writing a very strong letter as having had DRC problem with my RS6 I'm not too happy to have them again. All very well and good Audi replacing the shocks under warranty but my car has 5000 miles on the clock does that mean every 5000 miles I have to put up with some 1.6 A3 while they spend a week fixing mine? Not good enough!

I will wait with baited breath on the response!!

Perhaps Jeremy Hicks has left?

Just spoken to Newbury Audi ( not Craig hes away unfortunatley ) and Dave (tosser) excuse my French but this guy really gets up my nose from previous dealings, reckons there is not enough issue's been reported with the shocks leaking, DRC etc and although he recognises there has been some, suggested there isnt enough listed evidence for a recall nor is it likely based on forums like ours reporting as they are seen as not trustworthy sources. Arrogant P**ck Any way booked in for a health check. I just cant stick their attitude !

What a cock.
I still think its extremely important to send the poll and a letter. Whether they believe it or not is completely irrelevant at least it is logged with them. If it ever went legal all you would need to do would be prove that the contributors actually existed and that they actually had shocks replaced. I certainly would have not hesitation in backing up my vote.

OK - agree with ARSEY4 about the need for letters to be sent, but I may as well get the detailed list started...

You will only know for sure by removing the wheel and checking for oil leakage.

Symptoms are knocking / clunking noise over pot holes, speed bumps etc, tramlining, handling can be a bit 'bloaty' & 'sloppy', excessive lift from the front when accelerating, mine would also make a noise if I put the clutch in when at slow speeds in 1st gear like a worn engine mount noise.
