An RS4 B7 with 465BHP???

Post by RED_ROCKET » Sun Sep 14, 2008 11:02 pm

Ealrier today i was at a car show and at the stands a few cars up from my 2, a RS4 B7 saloon was running 465 BHP.

According to the owner it has a "special map", other than that it was completly stnadard. I explained that the claims on the standard RS4 were inflated by Audi which is clearly proven in this forum.

Mine has a map, miltek and still on a dyno is around the 415bhp mark!!

He replied " i have a dyno run graph to prove this" but is was not with him.

Now what do you make of this guys???

I am adiment to get further details of this wild BHP map.

This is impossible and i think that this is a mistake, but he doesnt think so.

Seriously though - a chip is not enough to provide that amount of extra HP over standard claims, a turbocharged car would be doing well to get that. My car is totally standard (non-Audi) and has been dyno'd at 24bhp above book. The same 10% in fact. The thing is dyno's can be an unreliable art at the best of times and then you have to add in the other influences like fuel, air temperature, operator. Dyno results by some garages can be especially designed to flatter, especially if a chip has just been fitted by a shrewd garage hoping to give the owner a happy feeling as they drive away having parted with a load of cash.

The owner may genuinely believe what he has been told, I however think further tests would be needed before making the claim in public.

All you need to do to verify the veracity of the claim, is to head down to the local dual-carriageway for some roll-ons....

LOL
had a long chat to jim from star performamance very trust worthy tuner long termers on her will remember BarryRS6 and his problems with MTM which Jim finaly sorted for him so this man now's his stuff and i informed him about all the power gains that the tuners are claming his words were the engine can't be inproved by a remap alone even with a full exhaust system the claims a very suspect, now he could just had easily said yes come down an i'll re map and fit an exaust system easy money to him but the best he said could be done with a re map is sharper throttle responce well i think the trottle is sharp enoungh in sport mode.
at thwe risk of being unpopular i think the re map is a waste of money and could cause problems with the warranty if the tuners don't now how th hide the flash counts.

Jim and Brian did most of the work on my S3 and I have a lot of time and respect for them. He's not one to sell you something just because you want to buy it - he's talked me out of a few things where he could have made a quick buck. He was telling me that he has remapped a few as a test, but only saw about 7bhp gain at most.

That said, he's still a grumpy Fifer that'll happily charge you £500 just to remove the limiter
