Where is the best/cheapest place for OE brake pads?
Where is the best/cheapest place for OE brake pads?
As above, although I haven't had the warning light come on after looking at the discs I think my pads are on the way out.
I'm sure this has been answered before but I can't find the post - where is the cheapest place to source OE pads at the moment?
Thanks,

vagparts most likely, it is a good idea to change them early as they have nasty pins to damage the discs.
It might be worth phoning a few dealers and see if you can get a deal ....

RE: Where is the best/cheapest place for OE brake pads?
Cheers Andy,
One of the discs is show early signs of the pins hence why i want to change them sooner rather than later.
Strangely enough though, it's only the front nearside disc and I only has a 1 faint grove so far. I've just got off the phone to Vag-parts who seem to think this is an early sign the pad is on the way out (apparently the pad has two pins embedded which are used to create an earth for the warning light?)
What is the rule of thumb about changing the rears. The discs seem fine however do both the front and rear pads need to be done at the same time? Again Vag-parts suggest you should get 2/3 front sets out of the way before needing to change the rears - can anyone confirm?

Search for 'Disk Pads' posted by 'audijohn' on the 10/07/2007. There is also a link within this post with pics etc.

Also make sure you start trying to source them early. I left it until the light came on and then had to drive gingerly for 2 weeks while I tried to find a set. In the end VAGPart couldn't get them so I had to ring around all of the dealers in my area to get hold of a set.
I echo the comments about the rears, I changed mine as I had the pads but I think that they'd have lasted another 10-15k.
