Service Issues - Beware Bexley Audi

Post by reevesroadster » Mon Aug 11, 2008 10:28 pm

I thought it pertinent to post the following to avoid any other people suffering the same issues when I had my Audi serviced at Bexley Audi recently, only to discover the following issues:

Several oily prints on the black metallic paintwork.
Spilled oil in the boot
Scratched/Marked bodywork
Driven at more than twice the speed limit on more than one ocassion
4 miles on the bodycheck sheet, 16 on my tracker logs
Used out of business hours.

As a global organisation with “vorsprug durch technikâ€

Those aren't accidental, they're fraudulent. If I were you, I'd keep going...

Give your story to the motoring press.
I'm presuming you have Tracker fitted so you have the facts to show your Audi dealer has been dis honest.
Send a copy to J. Hicks Esq. before you post it and wait for a response, if you don't get one, post the letters/send the e.mails
They, Audi, will HATE the chance of there being any bad publicity.
Keep us informed
Good luck

That is pretty poor, by any standards. Audi standards are really not what I expected, but then few other marques are either......

BTW what kind of Trakker do you have and how do you access the logs and speeding info? I'd like a system like that, given how much time the car is spending at the dealer......

Ive provided a sample of the tracker logs to Jeremy Hicks (the car was started 27 times, so theres a fair few log entries). Tracker have also confirmed to me verbally that the logs are admissable as evidence.

Jeremy commented on the tracker logs "It is clear that you vehicle was driven at speeds in excess of the regulation and for that I apologise, we will do whatever we can to check that the vehicle was not over revved, especially in the warm up phase - even at the speeds described I am sure that this is highly unlikely". Audi UK have since advised there is nothing more they can do, having failed to look at the car or confirm any further investigation.

The tracker is a Tracker Response - this gives you access to a secure webpage that provides details of the cars location, journeys, speeds etc. You can also configure a "geo-fence" so you are alerted if the car strays outside a set area. It also provides a map of the area, does route planning etc. Highly recommended.

Me too. The quote more than doubled when I went to the dealer to take a look around and book the car in. I need service guys I can trust and talk to, so I won't darken their door again.

Interesting reading their website, which looks and feels like they represent the Audi brand.

I'm not sure i understand what 'INDEPENDENT' means, aside completely unworthy.

How do we tell whether 'our' dealer is a 'proper' one...?

Also, thought SGSMith used to deal with shyte anyway, so no surprise they are struggling with above-chav brands.

I would send the information documenting the speeding to the police with the name of the technician who serviced the car. His name will be on the service invoice.

Also suggest you send an e-mail to Honest John at the Telegraph asking what can be done about this sort of thing. The response of Audi UK is beyond describing in polite language, is there a trade body or something you can report them to.

Laughably, I had to take the car to another Audi dealer today as the service interval indicator was showing wildly varying mileage for the next service (its done approx 400 miles since last service).
The Audi UK dealer rang me today to advise that the service interval indicator hadnt been reset by the garage that had previously worked on the car - they could even tell me the mileage on the car when it left Bexley Audi (although this may have been from their systems, the dealer didnt seem to be aware of the dealer details).

Suffice to say Im taking several measures (all legal) to resolve the issue whilst highlighting the facts. I'll keep the forum posted.

Check this thread for possible avenues of pursuit: http://www.rs246.com/index.php?name=PNp ... torder=asc.

Contractual bailment?

That thread spooks me as I bought my car from West London Audi.....

That said, I phoned Tracker today about upgrading my Horizon to a Response...it wasn't an option when I got the car I don't think...

So, inspite of having spent ~£800 on the Horizon, they want me to spend another ~£1K on the Response!

I told them they weren't going to win friends and influence people who have already paid for their top of the range product with such an upgrade policy....
