I would stop if was just 1 assailant. Any more I would stop in sight but out of reach and call 999

Quite surprised by some of the views on here but there again I have only been pulled twice and once the cop was reasonable and pleasant (yes he still booked me)

Here's further evidence of the way the Police are alienating themselves from "middle Britain" - which is what leads to some of the strong reactions in this discussion.

i personally think that traffic cops are the 'better' police in general. I put this down to them having more training etc. The normal plod seem to be missing a brain cell or two and have huge chips on their shoulders.

Cant really blame them though - who would want to be a copper in the uk in this day and age? They do get a rough ride but if they got the funding they needed from our crappy gov then we might get more out of them.

This makes an interesting read. It looks to me as though the Police Force is being run as a profit making, private company in the sales sector! Imagine the Ambulance or Fire Service being set up like this - You have to attend to x number of heart attacks or y number of house fires!

I dont really think the Police are to blame, although as stated earlier in this thread - respect has to be earned. As usual if all comes down to to top dogs wanting their big bonus, well if thats the line of work you want to be in then move to a private company!

Things like this article really do not help the force couple that with speed cameras and the like, no wonder people have a low opinion of them!

This question 20 years ago would not strike such an emotive nerve - just shows what a shitty nation we now live in.

the fire service is now not a service anymore, it is now run as a business with so many cutbacks being made and now everyone has personal targets to meet and the cuts get deeper each year. labour has really screwed this country.

the whole police force and justice system is a farce,if your willing to work for such a hypocritical system you must be short of brain cells, society has no say in anything anymore it is officially a dictatorship we are now living in,people are too scared to stand up and say anything,if you do protest you are classed as a terrorist and can be locked up with no rights indefinitely...look at the law books if you dont believe me

I guess in the scenario given. You would have to ensure your safety and due your civic duty...........................................so I would run them both over and call for an ambulance

Don't the police always tell you to think of your own safety and not get involved/call them? The cop will have a stab vest to help protect him and he may deploy pepper spray which may get you.
